Tyler Dibling
Re: Tyler Dibling
Every young player develops differently. Trust Moyes to handle him correctly can see his talent.

I don't think Dibling has been afforded a similar level of leeway is all. I agree he's not done enough but he's also 19 and adapting to a new location which seemingly he struggled with before...I just think he needs a bit more carrot to go along with the stick.
It is also fair to say he's not done enough, although maybe was a bit unlucky with his touch to Gueye against Leeds to not get a little assist to get up and running. Feels like he is lacking confidence a bit like Barry before his first goal, and I don't know if you address that purely by calling him out.
Barry played purely because of a lack of alternatives. We cant give anyone minutes if they dont produce anything and we have other options.
Re: Tyler Dibling
Thing is, Barry didn't have Grealish and Ndaiye in his position.blueToffee wrote: ↑Sun Feb 08, 2026 4:56 pm Barry often struggled in some of his early games, but Moyes still gave him playing time. About 4x as much (351 vs 1371 minutes in PL) and was allowed to play through some wobbly form.

Moyes had no real choice but to stick with Barry such was Beto's form.
By the time we lost anyone in front of Dibling in the pecking order he'd already tanked any confidence Moyes had in him.
Both very different situations imo.

Re: Tyler Dibling
He had a decent game against forest. Every other game hes done the square route of fuck all. Plenty of time but youve got to justify your minutes to some extent and he isn't.sam of the south wrote: ↑Sun Feb 08, 2026 5:26 pm Didn’t he lay on 8 shot creating actions or something against Forest?

That’s not right either is it, shouldn’t he have won a pen against Leeds as well?777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sun Feb 08, 2026 6:48 pm He had a decent game against forest. Re: Tyler Dibling
Yet we were playing McNeil there who most agree wasn't doing much either and in fairness was playing kinda out of position. We play Armstrong there too of late out of position...and the team has looked very out of sorts.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sun Feb 08, 2026 6:46 pm Barry played purely because of a lack of alternatives. Would even say Ndiaye hasn't done much in his games back, been kinda off it since the work he put into the AFCON. Like Gueye feels like they could've been eased in a bit more.
Think Dibling could've got a 10 min sub appearance in those sort of scenarios. Just think we change the bar a little depending on the player. Young players do need to play to develop.
Anyhow, not trying to defend him really here. Just think like Aznou we could give them a few more minutes on the pitch and a little more leeway given their ages.

Tough one, he definitely needs games, when he’s been given a chance he hasn’t taken it, plays too safe and that’s not what got him his move, put him in the reserves and I’d imagine he’ll have a strop, god knows what we do with him, he looks like the little rich kid whose parents have lost their wealth and he has to go to a state school.

Enjoys being the big fish in the little pond and doing what he wants, doesn’t fancy it anywhere else where he’s asked to do stuff beyond what he thinks he can do

In an ideal world we get Europe and players like Aznou, Dibling, Armstrong and maybe even Braiden Graham get loads of gametime and confidence.

Re: Tyler Dibling
We have to be in the business of winning football games. You make allowances for young players but you dont give them minutes when they consistently waste the minutes you do give them
I really dont think hes being treated worse than anyone else. He played less than the worst version of Barry because barry was competing with beto and dibbling was competing with Ndiaye and grealish. Hes played less than even mcneil because hes been worse than even mcneil
Id wouldn't be that surprised if he never started another meaningful game for us again. Won't start this season while we have something to play for and might find himself on loan next
Hes been incredibly disappointing. Dibbling isn't playing because of dibbling

Re: Tyler Dibling
It’s one of those where if you fast forward three years and say Moyes “mind games” encourages him to kick on and he fulfilled his promise and was our star player I wouldn’t be surprised, but nor would I be surprised if the pressure was too much and he was back at Southampton in the championship.
The technical talent is obviously there, it’s just a question of whether he can apply it and that ultimately not within our control

Only one 'b' in Dibling lads.
