Think we need 8 wins and a couple of draws.
I think when we get to the end of the season a lot of us will look back on Wolves at home, Brentford at home. The collapses against Spurs and Newcastle.
Those will be what cost us in the long run.
The race for... Europe?
Re: The race for... Europe?
57 points was enough for 8th last season. Brighton were the ones who ended up there on 61 points. After 25 matches they had 37 points. So 24 points from their last 13 matches.
We also have 37 points after 25 games. So let's say another 20 points to be in with a real chance. W6 D2 L5.
Home:
Bournemouth
Man United
Burnley
Chelsea
Liverpool
Man City
Sunderland
Away:
Newcastle
Arsenal
Brentford
West Ham
Crystal Palace
Spurs
---
I think we've got to be beating Bournemouth and Burnley at home. I think there'll be a surprise win against United, Chelsea, Liverpool or City. Sunderland we should win but feels like we won't. 3 wins and a draw in them 7 maybe.
We'll lose to Arsenal. Based on our away form this season then we can beat any of those 5 other teams. Whether we will is a different question obviously.
I think not beating Bournemouth on Tuesday would make it very difficult.

Let´s be happy we aint in the relegation fight. Do not think our first eleven nor the squad is good enough to be a top 8 team in PL yet. Moyes done a good job but I will not be dreaming about Europe this season.

Re: The race for... Europe?
My neighbour just said to me “You might finish above a Liverpool this season. I’d love it if you did.”
He’s a Man U fan and we live in North Lincs.
But it made me realise how incredible it is that we are where we are at this stage.
Look at their squad.
Look at ours.
People unaware of the gaping holes in our squad think we have a chance of finishing higher than them.
On what planet does our squad finish higher than theirs this season?
I reckon I’m underestimating Moyes tbf.

Moyes has done great but its more a statement at how poor Liverpool have been

I don’t disagree with you, but also when you look at the squads, side by side, one should be clearly much higher than the other.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Mon Feb 09, 2026 12:21 pm Moyes has done great but its more a statement at how poor Liverpool have been

Big game tomorrow.
Need to get our home form back on track before we can even think about a battle for European places.
We haven’t won at home since the start of December

Re: The race for... Europe?
Be hugely disappointed if we don't win tomorrow, think we should be making a statement that we are a genuine threat to the teams above us. If we then go on to fuck it I could understand it but you have to be beating Bournemouth at home to be taken seriously.

Re: The race for... Europe?
We’re doing so well away because we’re very good at shutting teams out and are a bit better at creating/scoring. We’re poor at home because we’re still not good enough to really dominate teams. It might work in our favour to play ‘better teams’ who will force us to play like the away team. There’s less expectation to take it to them at home. George might make the difference at home because he’s direct and quick but it’s too early to tell what he can offer
Re: The race for... Europe?
It'll continue to be the rollercoaster we've been on for the rest of the season but we're only every one poor half of football or a bad result away from another fan meltdown, fan fettle rises and falls with the results and tends to go from one extreme to the other.
Moyes can take a lot of credit for our away form but the home form's pretty rubbish and that needs sorted, we dodged a bullet at the weekend and not for the first time, we were lucky Fulham weren't out of site by half time and we're having a few games like that, it feels that kind of play isn't sustainable and sooner or later we'll come unstuck.
