Re: The Three Loan Musketeers
I think Röhl is obligation to buy, and I got the feeling from Grealish’s insta post the other day that that deal is as good as done.

Re: The Three Loan Musketeers
George is really the only question mark. Rohl is 100%, we've bought him barring relegation this season. It was basically a buy now, pay later agreement in effect. Grealish looks pretty nailed on barring complications with the injury perhaps. From all his social posts plus the fact he's still with us and not back at Man City despite the season ending injury in all likelihood speaks volumes. You never know in football, maybe someone else comes in for him and turns his head but I think he's more about the location and being the main man somewhere again so I'd put that at 95%.
We'll have to see on George. That's an actual option to buy so probably dependent on how he gets on unless we just think the profile is right and we gamble we've agreed a decent price for a young player with talent.

Could do with seeing a bit more of Merlin, becoming a bit of a lone ranger

Jury still out on George, too early to tell.

Nimble footwork, never too early for a 10 from Shirley, strictly speaking

Re: The Three Loan Musketeers
Rohl being treated like there’s an appearance trigger in that deal. With Armstrong proving he’s ready, bet Moyes and the club would love to get out of that one.

Re: The Three Loan Musketeers
Grealish could stay another year.
Merlin will have to be bought but he’s not been utilised very often, either because Moyes is concerned about his fitness and injury issues or he doesn’t rate him.
Question is if when we buy him, could he then be sold to another club like Tammy Abraham being bought then sold by Besiktas to Aston Villa

Re: The Three Loan Musketeers
I don't think they're really the same player and actually as they showed at Villa they can play well together.
I'd also not say we've seen enough of either at this level to say which one is the 100% better prospect. Armstrong is used to the English game so has looked more at home with the pace of things, and that's probably part of why Moyes has used him a fair bit of late. Rohl had to adjust but I don't think that necessarily means Rohl is the worse prospect longer term.
Still a bit of wait and see for me with them. You might be right, but I've not looked at Armstrong and thought he's 100% the best option for all games at this point in his career. Everyone loves a homegrown player coming through, but I think at times we're veering a little too much into the hype train on Armstrong given what he's actually done on the pitch so far.
Re: The Three Loan Musketeers
Mad how good Rohl was against Villa and then hasn't been seen since. Another baffling move by Moyes.

We have an obligation with Rohl Moyes obviously doesn’t like him maybe he has to play so many games for it to kick in another baffling situation at the moment

Very strange. Wonder if something has gone on behind the scenes. How someone can just suddenly be dropped like a stone after a good performance against such a good sideJamokachi wrote:Mad how good Rohl was against Villa and then hasn't been seen since. Another baffling move by Moyes.

Re: The Three Loan Musketeers
Think if we can secure all 3 for low cost then we're building a good side, hopefully leaving enough for some game changing full backs and a more competent striker.
Rohl + George for circa £35m, Grealish on loan again... Add in 3 new players and it's a very different team.
Just depends on how much we have to spend in the summer really. Probably need another £100m if we are to sign good full backs and a ready striker. Will we have that?

I’m sure we’ll have it, and that should get us two full backs and a decent striker. Those three positions change us massively.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 12, 2026 11:47 am Think if we can secure all 3 for low cost then we're building a good side, hopefully leaving enough for some game changing full backs and a more competent striker.
