David Moyes
Re: David Moyes
Half expected to see Dyche in the dugout last night - it was like Dyche ball on steroids. Awful

Re: David Moyes
I keep seeing people saying that we're not getting europe so might as well play the kids, but there's absolutely no way Moyes and a team of competitive professional athletes are giving up on european qualification when we're 3 points off 7th with 11 games to play.
Now, personally I think playing Patterson over O'Brien, Iroegbunam over Garner and one of George/Dibling out wide would give us more chance of getting the points to get to europe but that's a different debate and Moyes has earned the leeway with the transformation he's overseen in the last year.
I find watching us frustrating, but when he joined 13 months ago we were sat one point above the relegation zone after 3 years of relegation battles.

Re: David Moyes
Corners were embarrassing. And why constantly do it against the first Utd keeper in around 10 years who can actually catch and punch a ball.
I'd say Tarky really enjoyed training last week.

Re: David Moyes
Not having that the squad is bad; We’re not purely where we are because of Moyes (although he is the main difference maker, for sure)
The press was really aggressive last night, which I really liked, but having either Patterson (overlapping to give Ndiaye more space to move inside without being doubled up on) George (energy, skills, shooting) Röhl (energy, physicality) and even Dibling (another ball player) or Aznou (speed and energy) on from the start would’ve given us more chances to capitalise, I feel.

Re: David Moyes
Its the exact same Moyes as why most people got fed up of him last time.
Think he gets one more season then we part ways amicably.

Re: David Moyes
Think he’s tried to safety his way into Europe and it’s failed massively.
He looks…maybe done.

Re: David Moyes
I mentioned it in the match day thread but those corners really annoyed me. A good set piece coach is vital these days
Their keeper was totally unflappable. He claimed everything without any doubt whatsoever. And we helped him by putting the ball in the same spot every time and him just catching the ball every time
Surely it made more sense to put it further away from the net so he’s got some distance to travel to claim it and space out our players so they are attacking the ball from different angles
It was so frustrating watching the exact same corner every time and him plucking it out of the air with ease, rather than us giving a chance for Keane, Tarks, Branthwaite, Barry, Beto to head it
The tactic might have worked with a keeper terrible at claiming and weak as piss like Vicario of Spurs but it played into Lammens hands quite literally

Re: David Moyes
Think the corners suffered from the delivery not being good enough rather than the idea being poor... None seemed to be flat and powerful enough.
I think if either Garner or KDH had hit a flat swinging ball it could have come off 8 different heads and gone in. Instead they all allowed their keeper to be the one making contact.

Re: David Moyes
If the board do think it's time for a change in the summer cue the usual suspects all across the media telling us that 'Everton should be careful what they wish for' and 'look at West Ham since he left' and idiots like Ally McCoist blowing smoke up Moyes' ass by saying he's the best manager we could ever hope for.
Re: David Moyes
He was awful. I love him as a player but there's a reason why he's at us and not at one of the top clubs.
Also will always be better as an 8 than a 10, regardless of what Moyes seems to think.
Absolutely no reason why we can't play Garner, Tim and KDH in a flat 3, and on the odd occasion Moyes has done this we've looked a far better team.
Re: David Moyes
Think it was both things tbh - a bad setup for corners which seemed to be all over the place and then the balls in were far too easy to deal with as well.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 24, 2026 10:30 am Think the corners suffered from the delivery not being good enough rather than the idea being poor... I'm sure it will have been mentioned but it just looked like our plan was just to disrupt the keeper as much as possible but there didn't seem to be any co-ordination in what we were doing or anyone really attacking the corners with intent. Everyone was just pushing and shoving and almost certainly we'd have had any resulting goal chalked off by VAR the way we were setting up for them.
Tarkowski in particular was doing my head in, was at his worst where he's just looking for agro rather than actually concentrating on playing football.
Re: David Moyes
It did, but I don't think he was helped by the lack of options either. Several time he kind of drove in to decent areas towards the edge of the box but really only had the option of a hopeful through ball to a well covered Barry, or passing backwards. Seemed to constantly hesitate as a result and then play a shit pass anyway.
Re: David Moyes
And really poor in game management. Everyone could see they weren't working as their keeper is a big lad who is decent on crosses so we just carry on doing the same. It's like either no-one on the pitch saw enough to vary it or the manager didn't see any reason to change what was clearly not working. Either way we wasted a decent amount of corners hoping for scrappy goal that didn't look likely.Risky wrote: ↑Tue Feb 24, 2026 11:01 am Think it was both things tbh - a bad setup for corners which seemed to be all over the place and then the balls in were far too easy to deal with as well.
