Re: Jordan Pickford
One of my absolute worst shouts on here (and there's been a few) is saying we should sell him a couple of seasons back. Criminal lack of insight.
Re: Jordan Pickford
Thought he was outshone by the clearly superior in all respects goalkeeper Dubravka tonight tbh

33 goals conceded and 8 of those were in two games. Mean and Miserly. He’s some keeper.

Re: Jordan Pickford
This is about when keepers typically peak.
He’s always had world class reflexes and shot stopping ability and his positioning and anticipation have finally caught up.
Top keeper.

Re: Jordan Pickford
Eh his shot stopping was statistically below average for several seasons in a row, he had no command of his box, and he was prone to losses of concentration and high profile errors. Wanting to sell him if we got offered a premium with him being the England keeper was far from an awful shout. He’s been fantastic the past couple of years, however. And I’m glad we kept him, obviously.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 9:54 pm One of my absolute worst shouts on here (and there's been a few) is saying we should sell him a couple of seasons back. Even then, I was never confident we could replace him.howard1334 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2026 1:41 am Eh his shot stopping was statistically below average for several seasons in a row, he had no command of his box, and he was prone to losses of concentration and high profile errors. The worst part of those shouts was saying we could replace with any bog standard keeper and be better off.howard1334 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2026 1:41 am Eh his shot stopping was statistically below average for several seasons in a row, he had no command of his box, and he was prone to losses of concentration and high profile errors. Hence the Dubravka posts I get tagged in as I had a lot of back and forth arguing against him when others said he'd do better.
Ancelotti put that idea to bed the moment he played Olson instead and people realised what playing a bog standard keeper actually looked like.
It was great man management by Ancelotti though as it made Pickford realise he needed to sort his shit out, and he's not looked back since.
So glad we've got to see that improvement here and how he's become absolutely immense, imagine him having left and achieved it somewhere else. Would have been really hard to see that happen.
