Chef’s kiss of a performance apart from the delayed pass to Illy.

That would’ve been a videogame goal

Deserved the goal as well.

Hopefully he can keep this up.

Couldn't enjoy his performance because the fella next to me screamed at every mistake he made. Didn't go it for anyone else though. Was praying that effort went in the top corner to shut the cunt up (although he stopped after that point anyway).

37. Top midfielder. One of our best ever in the PL.

I was a bit frustrated by the number of touches he was getting on the edge of the box in the first half. For all his merits, his quality in those areas is inconsistent at best.

Made me eat my words in the second half. Killed every attack before it could start, rotations were perfect with Ndiaye roaming out of position frequently, and almost scored a great goal to top it off.

Really good second half, but it was Burnley. Hes had a big drop off this season, obviously some of that because of the AFCON.

Id like to see Tim, Rohl or Armstrong given a run over him, but dont think thats going to happen.

You can't not play him after that. He was MOTM for me. If he now has a run of games where he is off it, by all means switch it up, but not after that

I think a night game obviously helps him (and Illi), being in the middle of Ramadan and being able to break his fast pre-game. Must make a huge difference to energy levels.

Not surprised with that heat map, noticed multiple times Ndaiye and McNeil wandered out of position (think it was planned) and Gana covered their space every time. Was a very disciplined performance and probably shows why Moyes continues to play him even when the rest of us want one of the promising younger players in the team.

It was a fantastic performance, and very nearly capped it with a worldy goal.

I said a few seasons back that he’ll play for as long as he wants, I can see him playing at 40 ( not necessarily with us, but I’d like to think so). He’s been my favourite player during both spells.

He definitely seemed back to his usual self last night.

Hopefully it was just a case of getting back up to speed since AFCON.
