It’s two miles to Lime St.Station and I know my pace, it would take me 45 minutes but it’s only between 4,500 and 5,000 steps which would be good to do once the weather is decent, it’s worth doing because of certainty of arrival time at station to catch a train, no worries about traffic jams etc. and also the considerable health benefits.

Key Recommendations for Men:
Optimal Health (Under 60): 8,000 to 10,000 steps per day.
Longevity and Disease Prevention: 7,000 to 8,000 steps per day.
Minimum for Health Benefits: As few as 3,900 to 4,000 steps per day can start to reduce the risk of mortality.
Older Men (60+): 6,000 to 8,000 steps per day.

Ah, as long as the majority can do it, we get to fuck off caring about those that cant.

Excellent to know. Can finally just crack on with binning off any wheelchair spaces as well as the majority of people can walk and we don't have to worry about people who would struggle.

Fucking hell mate.

I’am obviously able to differentiate between people with genuine mobility issues and those who are just moaning about a bit of a walk.

It wasn’t just the walk to town though, was it? He said he has bad knees and the walk, plus all the extra walking and steps inside the concourses, plus after all that standing around waiting for the train at Sandhills - all add up to a bad experience for him. I think that’s fair, not dramatic. And while there are some folk who can and some folk who can’t, let’s also remember that there are plenty of people who find it a struggle but carry on regardless.
It’s not two binary groups of able and not able, in that 52,000 will be a plethora of different abilities, barriers and health issues.
Perfectly valid and very sad.
They’ve had long enough to do something about the transport to and from the ground.
Let’s hope within the next few years, they figure it out and make it more accessible to more people. We want it full to the rafters and they want folk spending, so it would be a win-win for everyone.

Its been a lot LOT worse because its been night matches mostly, its been fucking freezing, windy and rain and we have lost most games.

A 30 min walk in the sun, warmth, after a win will feel boss.

I don’t know anything about Sandhills, I suppose that’s for getting North or to South Liverpool stations but getting back into City Centre is as I have said a few times well organised, both coming to the stadium from Commutation Row and getting back to Lime street, plenty of buses lined up before and after, tbh, better than previous getting to Goodison.

Glad it’s been an upgrade for some folk. Just need to do the best we can by all Evertonians.

Mate you deserve a round of applause for that post!

As someone who was perfectly able bodied until 40, then day to day I could be any of those categories you've listed above, I know only too well how not only there's not an 'able' and 'not able' category everyone fits in to, but also how the vast majority of regular folk have zero understanding of health and disability ranges.

You look fine = you're fine. That's it for most people, don't blame them for it, it's hard to understand unless you've lived it or seen someone close do so.

I've been to 2 matches up here this season, both absolutely destroyed me, but no one around would have known the struggle I went through to take my kid to those games, the travelling even though it was a 30 mins drive, the walk to and from the car park was only 15 mins... All seemingly easy, but actually the whole experience from door to door took about 5-6 hours. I don't have that level of health to do that really.

I feel seen which is rare, and the post wasn't about me. However it's just rare people understand what you clearly do. So I tip my cap in your direction for that.

Also to balance this out, I think a lot of people are just fucking lazy so don't think Ram is completely wrong, just not fully aware.

For context, the fella in the article said his knees weren’t what they once were.

That’s it.

I’d never dismiss people with genuine mobility concerns.

Just feel he’s being really dramatic about the walk into town as are a lot of people who could walk it no problem, but just can’t be arsed because we’ve become too reliant on cars as a society

People minimise their ailments because it's easier than explaining to people who don't know or aren't really interested in learning about it.

People I've known for years will ask me how I am, I just say 'fine' and they then think I'm on the mend, when in fact I can barely function that day and probably will never be on the mend.

Just easier, you get tired of explaining things to people who don't understand and it doesn't take long before you minimise it instead.

I do agree there are a lot of lazy people who don't walk anywhere though, and that muddies the issue because how do you tell who's unable and who's able when the unable pretend they can, and the able pretend they can't.
