Beto
Re: Beto
It’s infuriating because he’s a perfectly good CF for this level when the ball isn’t bouncing off him constantly.
Unfortunately, it feels like the matches where he can control the ball are the exception, not the norm.
Would be nice if he magically rounded a corner when it comes to that.

Re: Beto
You see some holes in players like Dibling, or Iroegbunam, Barry or even Garner and they're all places that players can realistically improve with experience and training.kramer wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2026 3:36 am It’s infuriating because he’s a perfectly good CF for this level when the ball isn’t bouncing off him constantly.

But your touch and ability to control a ball? It can improve, yeah. But not to the same extent as learning when to move into a space or show a player onto their weaker foot.

Re: Beto
To be fair to beto he was very decent the back end of last season. His performance yesterday was too.

Re: Beto
Balls in behind or through the lines give him a chance, whereas, the hoof ball doesn't. It's like we play to his weaknesses

Re: Beto
Criticism is mostly related to asking to play the role of DCL. We saw even under Moyes himself last season Beto can be useful if you play him in behind, it shouldn't even be a surprise if we watched him in Italy thriving off the likes of Deulofeu's crosses/pull backs into the box too as he wants to run onto stuff and shoot.Paddockoldie wrote: ↑Sun Mar 01, 2026 4:25 pm Balls in behind or through the lines give him a chance, whereas, the hoof ball doesn't. Feels like with both him and Barry we often don't really help them by playing to their strengths.
That said I always get the impression Beto is trying to improve himself and he did pretty well holding things up against Newcastle. So maybe he's been working hard in training? We'll have to see if he can keep that going if it was just a better day for him.

Re: Beto
Bumping this cos I think he's done well since coming back in. He's done pretty well doing playing back to goal too, and I honestly think we look better with him in the side.
Re: Beto
Great performance. You can't help but love him, he can be a bit guff at times but play to his strengths and he'll get the goals. Don't lump it up to him, give him a ball on the deck to run onto and he'll get a shot off at the very least.
Re: Beto
Not just about playing to his strengths, he’s been better back to goal and controlling the ball in situations where he’s been poor in the recent past.
When his touch isn’t abysmal, he’s quite a useful player. Glad he seems to have sorted the aspects of his game that made him a liability earlier this season.

Re: Beto
Was great today, like the Beto purple patch version of him from last season.
Deserves to be starting over Barry right now, and as long as he keeps doing what he's doing there's no reason to take him out. It's not just his goals, his overall play has been far better too.

Re: Beto
Everton goalscorer Beto, speaking to Sky Sports: "I don't think I'm a hero. I feel like I'm home. Playing for Everton is something unbelievable. You just want to give your all and help the team with goals, assists, good performances, anything. I'm really happy.
"Today was a must win game for us. Since we came out of the hotel the fans were shouting. They knew. They were feeling like we need to win this game, so we did a great performance, three goals, clean sheet. We are happy."
Top bloke.
