James Garner
Re: James Garner
Hope he gets a run out... 35 man squad!
Would be a good utility player in a world cup squad, gives the manager options elsewhere.

Re: James Garner
I do like this and I get the the impression he's a pretty understated guy so maybe that's just how he is, but often it feels like the media training they all get squeezes the life out of so many players when they have to talk in front of a camera.
Forget carefully choosing your words and go nuts dude, you just got an England call up

Re: James Garner
Garner has improved greatly, but I think Wharton is way better, with a high ceiling to improve even further.MPLS Toffee wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2026 4:16 pm I think he is better than Wharton. Wharton is a bit overrated in my book.

Re: James Garner
I think a large part of it is consistency. It's hard to compare players at times as you see the difference a stable-ish team with a decent manager can make as I'd say on average Garner has been more consistent than either Wharton or Anderson over this last season, but you'd have to say a big part of that is the fact that Palace and Forest have been dumpster fires of late and more mistakes have crept into both of their games.MPLS Toffee wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2026 4:16 pm I think he is better than Wharton. I would say to Garner's credit though is that aside from consistency he is also showing he has more strings to his bow than perhaps he often gets credit for. He's scored some great goals and things like his assist to Barry made for one of the better goals we'll likely score this season.

Re: James Garner
This guy was utterly superb today. He’s got a swagger to his game and has seemed to find more time on the ball. I suppose that’s the confidence of an England call up for you.
Every time he received the ball today he tried to position himself to look forward. It’s a big improvement in his game when he is in possession and that’s how the assist was created. He has a wonderful eye for a pass and I am really looking forward to seeing him score and assist for us in the coming years.

Turning into the main man in the centre of the park isn't he. Has had a great season, improved massively.
Seems to have developed an Odegaard-esque obsession with his hair flick but it's fine as he's going the business.
