Re: England National Team
Terrible match but you'd expect that given how we rested our entire starting eleven.
Ref was laughably bad, genuinely the worst refereeing I can remember in an international game. Mind boggling bad.

Re: England National Team
well if this is the best that uruguay can offer versus our england B team thats pretty poor
they have one decent player valverde and thats it - worth watching for his great touch and passing ability - great to watch
good run out test for the england reserves tho and thats what was needed and done
ps
and we think our var and refs are bad lol

Re: England National Team
Am I the only one who thinks our team isn’t that great?
Outside of Kane we don’t have one attacking player in any sort of form this season.
Every chance the defence looks like guiehi, konsa, livaremento, hall. That’s very meh for an international tournament.
Saka, madueke, rashford and Gordon as the wide players isn’t great either.
Rogers and palmer have both been poor this season.
Foden can’t get into the city team.
Just don’t fancy our chances with the group of players even with an elite manager like tuchel.
Also, quite a few great talents that could have qualified for being English that we’ve let slip through.
Semenyo, olise, musiala, even haaland.

Re: England National Team
I think individually its a good good team. But im not sure who he is going to play so hard to know, plus do they play well enough together?
Feels like we still dont know how to play a best team. I mean, what is the best team?

Re: England National Team
Yeah too many players out of form. Saka has been average at best this year. Foden has fallen off a cliff. Palmer has been injured. Bellingham injured. Rogers has been streaky and out of form at the minute. Even someone like Watkins is well down on last season. You could probably add Anderson and Wharton to not being in great form either. Gordon shouldn't be starting based on his last 12 months. There aren't a lot of players going into the tournament on top form.

Pickford
James Guehi ???? ?????
Anderson Rice
Saka Rogers? ????
Kane
He chops and changes so often though it’s hard to say
Re: England National Team
Main problem is that we've not needed to play well at any point, so chopping and changing hasn't really mattered. It'll only be in the tournament itself that everyone needs to be on the same pages that there not being a settled side will be an issue.

That should be good enough to go deep in the tournament, and I'm not too worried about players being out of form tbh. People like Saka will probably relish not playing under Arteta for a bit, and Gordon's problems tend to be attitude so hopefully playing for the national team in a major tournament is a motivation to turn up and show what he can do.
I think if we can get to the semis then we have a decent chance to win it as Tuchel knows how to win cups, and I think we've got a decent set of penalty takers if it goes to them.
I wouldn't class us as favourites but we must be in the top 4, and that gives us a shot at it.
I think Tuchel has done a good job of making the team more like a club team too and isn't afraid to leave the better players out of it benefits the team, which is where Southgate got it badly wrong at the Euros.
I'm quietly optimistic we'll do well.

Re: England National Team
Can't stand England. Things like the booing of Ben White by the mouthbreathers crystallise that even more than before.
Re: England National Team
Looks very average to me this compared to the likes of Spain, france, Brazil and Germany.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2026 2:21 pm ------------------------------------Pickford

That defence isn’t a defence that gives you a chance of winning a tournament.
Massive drop off from the likes of Walker, stones and shaw imo.

Re: England National Team
Yeah, I saw a bit of the France vs Brazil friendly the other day and it felt like a bit of a reality check.
I was starting to think with Tuchel and a squad that's ground out wins to get to finals already, maybe we could do something. However, it feels we are lacking depth compared to some of the other teams.
- Kane is in a different league to all the other strikers, the rest of the striker options are just not consistent.
- Pickford is great but I think that defence is pretty average. It probably doesn't help the vibe that Newcastle with 2 or 3 (if including Burn in the overall mix) of those potential starting options got absolutely pulled apart by Real Madrid. These are some of the same players we'll be up against if we go further in the tournament. If Branthwaite was actually a choice I'd have him in tomorrow.
- Saka...Arsenal are obviously doing well but I've not seen him personally be consistently good for what feels like a year and half. Maybe that's a bit on Arteta and he's just happy to have him running up and down and defending too. Bellingham similar, plus lots of injury issues. Rodgers' form seems to have significantly dipped too.
- Gordon...if it wasn't for the CL campaign he'd not be in line for starting as he's been largely awful in the PL. And with the CL his numbers were a bit boosted by the amount of fairly poor teams they had to face.
Anderson has had an iffy season. At least Garner might be there as an alternative
Rice clearly top player.
On top of all that, I don't think the heat is going to do us any favours if we're playing a high intensity sort of game. I think one of the quarter final paths had us potentially playing Brazil in Florida...that'd be a tough one for us it feels like.
