I honestly couldn't think of a manager less suited to international football than Pep

Maybe it's my age but do people really still care about the Falklands?

It's a British territory and from all accounts the inhabitants see it that way too. If Argentina want to think differently then let them .

I went to bed quite angry and bitter last night.
Remarkably, after sleeping on it, i somehow woke up even more angry and bitter.

Could not be more Everton-coded that defeat last night

Well, the good news is there's only 37 days until Everton play palace in a league game!

Dunno, hard to really understand it when we live all the way over here and it has zero impact on our lives.

Would I be happy if it was the other way round and Argentina owned the Isle of Man and Isle of White? Not sure tbh, but I really don't like the idea of one country owning other places that's nowhere near them.

I went to bed angry, I woke up 3 times and was genuinely fuming each time, then woke this morning livid.

I've played golf in the sunshine, saw deer, squirrels and rabbits and that's helped a lot. I'm now just pissed off.

Not sure British people do (maybe apart from ex servicemen) but I think Argentina still cares a lot about it. It's their last war, and it still lingers in their consciousness.

The Argentine vice PM was calling us ''usurping pirates'' and ''invaders'' before the game.

I don’t think Foden or present form Palmer would’ve helped.

I do actually think though that a fit Grealish would’ve been really helpful in that situation. Not losing the ball and retaining possession, buying free kicks probably would’ve given us a foothold.

Britain tried to give the Falklands to Argentina in the 60s, because it was negatively impacting trade with Latin America, and the inhabitants kicked up a massive fuss and demanded that they remain a British territory.

So I suppose in the spirit of self-determination, you have to support people to decide their own future.

Didn't need a ball technician last night, should have subbed Madueke and Rashford on to give us pace on the counter and a way to get up the pitch and the ball away from our box.

He even had the evidence presented to him that this was the right approach when Rogers broke forward, but then choose the wrong option by shooting. If he was braver we would've gone on to get a second, but he proper bottled it

Shogun wrote: Thu Jul 16, 2026 8:25 am Think it's always a bit of a concern when a manager doesn't know his best team. Flexibility is a good thing but when Pickford, Rice, Anderson, Bellingham and Kane are your only guaranteed starters then it can't help. Even Guehi was on the bench for a match.

The defence was a concern before the tournament and the fact they changed so much can't have helped. Of course injuries were a factor in that but if you're going to take the likes of James and Stones then what do you expect?

You look at the other 3 SFs and they all have pretty consistent line-ups.

There's also just too many wasted spots. Like what did Henderson, Toney and Chalobah really contribute in that world cup? Do we really think they were better picks than the likes of Wharton, Palmer, Foden and Alexander-Arnold?

Some of those 4 could have made a world of difference in terms of holding onto the ball and finding a pass last night.
Chalobah definitely only called up to stick it to Maguire and family for mouthing off, “look Harry, I’ve called up another centre back, this could’ve been you if you weren’t a gobshite hahaha”

Mainoo was pointless if he preferred two full backs to have stints in centre mid over him, and even Henderson got on

I still can’t get over it.

Ending the tournament with Konsa on the right swinging the ball in to Dan Burn.

Never seen a manager lose his nerve like that.

We’ve had three foreign managers now and they’ve been no different to what English managers have to offer.

Sven and Capello stuck by 442 whilst the rest of the game was moving on.

Tuchel seemed to go against everything he believes in for the sake of playing like a premier league team that was direct.

Ultimately, does the English mentality and way of playing drag managers down to a lower level?

Did tuchel look at this group of players, the way they play in the premier league and think they can’t play how he wants them to? Did he not have faith in us using the ball properly defending a lead so decided the only way was to go full on defence?

Other than 30 minutes against Croatia what we saw was no better than what’s come before.

Maybe it is just a cultural thing and we’re just too far behind the other bigger footballing nations in our technical ability and will to win when it matters
