The worst thing is that I actually think that the club is "trying" to rebuild with buying younger players. Last year KDH, Aznou, Dibling, Alcaraz and Barry and this year Rohl, George and Hackney. Problem is that these players are not good enough and that we pay too much for them.

We have used 180M on those players and its only KDH which is an undoubted starter...Recruiting is killing us. I dont think we even have the money to get that right back - and still we should have had one more left back, a dm, winger and striker! Ndiaye probably has to be sold just to get enough money for two of those positions.

But as the optimistic people say - preseason doesnt matter...
I think the recruitment is ok it’s the manager that’s wrong he is the wrong man completely to get the best out of young players too conservative and defensive yesterday’s man

Just got back from it.
Terrible, and I know it’s all about fitness, but we just have no idea going forward, I really want Dibbling to succeed, but he is literally miles off it, not showing on the wing , his first thought isn’t to take his man on. Not even commenting on Barry this season, the lad is just shockingly bad. Röhl had a good run out, but he’s not a right back at all, gives everything though.
We desperately need two starting fullbacks, a proper forward and a Grealish.

No, its not. Everton cannot afford to use 180M on squad players with a potential, on players that are not ready and with Moyes as a manager that is even worse. First of all the club needs to start scouting players outside of UK.

But I do agree with you about Moyes - never fancied Everton-teams under him - I am one of the guys that loved Martinez - probably because Moyes had tortured me for a decade and I needed someone who dared to fail and went all in.

I guess I'm happy that I was working and I missed this.

Minutes in the legs, bollocks.

21st century footballers don't go on the ale all summer and come back a stone overweight, they will be already 90% match fit before they start pre season.

We are just shit.

You missed 'and down'. Total fraud imo

Well. This was a worrying read.

Say what you want about just being minutes into the legs but if we get beat by Stuttgart, a team that finished 17th in the Bundesliga, there will be some real pressure on Moyes.

Also if minutes in the legs is a thing, there are minutes going into the wrong legs and I don't want to see most of those minutes legs on the pitch playing season minutes while I waste hours of my life watching those wasted minute legs.

Grim watching, that.

Some nice balls from Rohl. Good shot by George. That’s about it.

Would make a nice little double that, having just been beaten by the team that finished 17th in the Championship.

The best moment was Dibling getting it inside, 1-2 with Barry, and lovely ball to KDH, but I good last ditch toe in by their defender.

That was the most encouraging passage of play.

And Merlin was decent all game, but we still need a RB, and I’d prefer him in midfield over Armstrong and Alcaraz tbh.

I think under a different manager last season some of those "players with potential" last season would already be considered starters when planning for this season - that's the biggest issue.

Every single minute given to McNeil ahead of one of the young options was criminal

Over the past 25 or so years I've regularly gone to all the local pre season games and don't think I've ever come away from one and thought god that was brilliant
