I'm similar, although I do appreciate what he offers. If it was the prospect of watching a Moyes team or a Howe team it's not even a contest, and some of the Howe football isn't that great, but it's still significantly better than what we have
David Moyes

And has a reputation for his teams shipping goals on the regular. With our current squad and no signs of having any cash to spend, appointing Howe would be a recipe for disaster IMO

Re: David Moyes
Between Frank and Howe I'd definitely go with Howe.
Outside of our big grok CBs we don't have the sort of physical squad that Frank needs. Conversely we've invested quite a bit in youth and a manager like Howe could do well with that.
I'd rather we looked beyond the PL, but the club seems incapable of doing that

Re: David Moyes
Howe wants a "break". So if you wanted him, there'd be no point sacking Moyes today.
Pretty Confident Howe is the next Everton manager though. His break won't be any longer than Moyes' time with us this year. (Unless we win a cup and/or qualify for the champs leagues)

Re: David Moyes
I think I'm just fed up of us being the boring team with a classic Premier League British manager at this point tbh
Re: David Moyes
I wanted Howe when he was Bournemouth boss and before he was Newcastle boss, and I would 100% take him now.
It would be perfect for us, but it isn’t going to happen.

Re: David Moyes
I'd be quite worried about Howe with this squad, and given how many goals his teams concede.
Finished on the same points total as us last year, definitely having a significantly better squad.

Re: David Moyes
The English Martinez. Contemplating a ban for anyone who even suggests Eddie "three goals" Howe as our next manager.

According to my artificial intelligence friend Howes teams dont conceded as many goals as Moyes over the previous 5 yearsBluedylan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2026 8:59 am I'd be quite worried about Howe with this squad, and given how many goals his teams concede.

Here's how it stacks up over the last five completed Premier League seasons (2021‑22 to 2025‑26):
David Moyes (West Ham 2021‑24, then Everton from Jan 2025)
Total: 274 conceded → ≈54.8 per season / ≈1.44 per game
Eddie Howe (Newcastle, throughout)
Total: 259 conceded → ≈51.8 per season / ≈1.36 per game
So Howe's Newcastle have conceded fewer goals on average over this period — driven heavily by that remarkable 2022‑23 season (33 conceded, joint-best in the league, finishing 4th). Take that one outlier season away and the two are actually very close (Howe ≈54 a season in the other four years, almost identical to Moyes).
A couple of caveats worth flagging:
Moyes wasn't in charge of Everton for the whole of 2024‑25 — Sean Dyche managed the first half of that season before Moyes took over in January 2025, so that 44-goal tally isn't purely his.
Howe also only took over Newcastle partway through 2021‑22 (November 2021), so that 62-goal figure includes a chunk of Steve Bruce's tenure too.
If you strip out the partial-season noise and just compare their full seasons in sole charge (Moyes: West Ham 21‑22 to 23‑24 + Everton 25‑26; Howe: Newcastle 22‑23 to 25‑26), the gap narrows further, but Howe still edges it thanks to that outstanding 2022‑23 defensive record.
Re: David Moyes
Those stats are interesting but in many ways somewhat irrelevant because what it doesn’t factor in is obviously the outside influences such as injuries and suspensions….

Re: David Moyes
Ok fair. Point taken. I would still worry about Howe's teams conceding a lot of goals very quickly. Again Newcastle have had a significantly better team and squad than us for the last few years, and have spent a lot of money on players, so the comparison isn't really an even one.Raptor wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2026 9:09 am According to my artificial intelligence friend Howes teams dont conceded as many goals as Moyes over the previous 5 years

Anyway, Moyes isn't get fired at the moment, so it's a moot point. If things go badly in the season, he could get fired later in the year, so maybe Howe becomes a consideration then.
Re: David Moyes
Ok, so you can also deduce that Howe creates a more rounded squad with potentially better discipline to counter any outside influences

Moyes will be lucky to make Christmas i feel. There's a disconnect somewhere, certainly amongst our fan base
