I give a pass to the likes of Cahill shilling themselves out as he had his career before the mega money that’s in the game now - can’t blame him for grabbing a cut when it’s on offer

Aye, poor guy was only on about £50k a week 12 years ago, I don't know how he managed. He was still on mega money even it wasn't in some of today's terms.

Forgive my lack of sympathy for him but he was a multi millionaire when he left here and he'll have earned well when he went off around the world playing, it's not like he'll have to rely on the Everton Former Players Foundation for help.

Think we were paying him 3 million a year on his last contract. If he wasn't a dick I'd start up a collection

They’re fine by me.

It’s easy to forget that a lot of people we hold in high regard at the club had a personal relationship with Kenwright and that’s the most important thing to them, which is fine.

Yup. I can disagree with them without disliking them as people.

Your post reminds that I don’t really know them as people, so I shouldn’t judge them.
Also if I had a personal relationship with Kenwright I would probably feel a lot different about him too.
I still can’t imagine not being angry about some things, but that’s different to personal.

Cahill was probably worth about 10m when he left us, which is obviously a heap of money but he’s probably been offered that a year by Qatar

I think looking who Cahill has taken money from has merit, but it's also too simplistic for me.

Money doesn't mean happiness and he clearly wants a career now he's no longer a footballer, and he's creating a CV for himself with a likely ambition or end goal we don't know that may well be beyond simply how how much money he can earn.

Not every footballer who ends their career with millions in the bank want to just live a meaningless life of dossing about in their mansions, and not every player wants to become a coach or manager.

Where he gets his salary from will maybe raise some eyebrows but I'm sure the CV he's creating is going to be great for his career development whatever that may be, and who knows, maybe that's what's important to him more than anything?

And earned about another $10m at NYRB and another $10m in China. On top of that he apparently has many business interests so I'm still not feeling any symapthy for him having to scratch a living in Qatar.

Fair, I just think it’s naive to say “well he already has x million he doesn’t need any more” as in his shoes 90% of people take doubling their net worth

I never really get that argument, presuming you're meaning the average person. When people say "you would do the same" it's totally different to someone earning average money with an average home, car, lifestyle etc, to double their wealth can be life changing compared to someone who is already wealthy beyond their dreams and their life won't be enhanced by more millions. That's why I laugh at all these golfers and footballers taking the Saudi cash and claiming it's to enhance the game or for their kids, it's not, when it gets to that stage it's just pure greed.

Anyway, any news on the appeal?

Weird considering how optimistic you've been about it all

I wouldn't be surprised though.

I’m looking for my next work move at the minute to leave Belgium and as interesting as the options are (Boston, Budapest, Quebec or North Carolina) none of them are hot places - considering looking at changing companies just for the opportunity to live somewhere hot
Budapest can get quite hot in the summer, 35+ is fairly normal. Winters can get cold though, not so much recently, but a cosy -10 is always on the cards.
