Why? As @Bluedylan1 keeps saying with how the financial rules work, it's not like we'd immediately be able to put that £70m towards someone else. Realistically are we going to buy someone better than Ndiaye to replace him for like half the price we sell? Is Ndiaye even close to being one of the issues in our team? No

Yes he can score and assist more, but he can also have a season a CB at RB to link up with. A superb footballer who loves being here, I don't know why people are so desperate to sell. McNeil, George and Dibling are our other wingers at the club. The most likely scenario is we sell him and watch McNeil or Merlin Rohl starting on the right wing all season.

£23.3m now allows us to buy multiple players though.

If we signed 2 players for £25m, one for £50m.then we'd spend £20m this summer giving us £3m spare.

In terms of spending power right now it would be very beneficial.

We paid £16m for him. Why is he not replaceable? Brighton continually replace talent. Palace feel like they have had an actual conveyor belt of young, tricky wingers for a decade.

He's great to watch - but his output isn't tearing up trees.
Whilst we have to amortise his value over 3 years (sort of, the "3-year smoothing"), we are able to amortise incoming players by up to 5 years.
So we can still buy a £70m of players on a 3 year contract and the books will balance (we'll be "up" for the first 3 years if we got the new player to sign a 5 year deal).

For whatever reason they have decided to keep a holding pattern this year (Moyes?) so replacing Ndiaye right now would probably look more like whoever the modern equivalent to Andros Townsend is.

Whilst i agree completely, there is a bit of an omission there isn't there?

We've also paid for a 20 year old, a 23 year old and a 24 year old this window (i know, as always, there is context and caveats around that sentence).

The one part of me that still has faith though, is the part of me that is repeating: we're saying the people who brought Ndiaye in can't bring an Ndiaye in. (although, again - context and caveats).

Remove all theory - the pattern of players we are buying. Based on that alone, I don’t want to see what our winger would look like.

So you think it's more likely the board are deliberately withholding funds that a manager they've publicly backed could use to strengthen the team, thus having a higher possibility of achieving their goals, than us just spending what we are able to within the constraints of CSR.
