It does make me think about the squad plans for the season though - how does it fit with the bigger picture?

It could mean one of 4 things imo - that either Grealish isnt coming back, Ndiaye is going, Dibling isnt expected to get much playing time or its an opportunity thats presented itself that we can't refuse (getting rid of McNeil and adding some pace)

Can't really see us with Grealish, Ndiaye, Johnson, George and Dibling, and keeping them all happy.

Ndiaye £45k pw, Dibling similar. Not sure on George yet, but fair to assume he'll be on around as much as our other wingers combined.

Basically they have tried to get some value back out of a huge sunk cost of £35m fee and £30m wages over 5 years.

He’s miiiiilllleeeessss better than McNeil. His numbers will tell you that. And he can run.

In the last 24 hrs I’ve had mates tell me that Tavanier and Johnson are no better than McNeil… but then admit they don’t really watch any footy other than Everton.

And this isn’t to dig you out TS, but I do find it a bit cringe when our fanbase piles in on criticism of players at other clubs when we’ve been so shit for so long. City and Arsenal fans can call Johnson shite all they want, they have perspective.

And I do it too, but how many times have we signed players and when they’ve come here and we’ve seen them week-in, week-out, we’ve realised they’re actually decent? Could even file a 40 year old Ashley Young in that category.

I just don’t think our fanbase realises just how utterly shite players like McNeil are.

He does give us what we have desperately lacked though, a goal threat with pace on the counter. Playing defensive counter attacking football without any pace was killing us last season, can never get out.

Is one of Ndiaye and Dibling going to leave as rumoured? We can't give meaningful game time to them all, especially with a manager like Moyes who doesn't rotate or use his subs.
