Re: David Moyes
When his back was to the wall last season with injuries he played guys who hadn’t played all season up to then and we beat villa and forest away with the likes of Rohl Patterson o Brien at centre half but the minute he got a few guys back it’s back to the tried and trusted back to 1 up top long balls Center half at full back and Keane in the team he has always had favourites since the first day he was here and still has
Re: David Moyes
Depend where you place your assumptions, the the manager, the players, both, or our opponents etc etc over/ underperformed. And what is their base level of performance.
It is suggested that performance (results) is mostly dictated by the cattle rather than the farmer.

In this case, the farmer gets to pick what cattle he brings in and what cattle he uses.Cods wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2026 2:18 pm Depend where you place your assumptions, the the manager, the players, both, or our opponents etc etc over/ underperformed. And what is their base level of performance.

He is also supposed to use his agricultural knowledge to graze them in the most productive areas of the field…
“What are you doing over there Jake?”
“What are you doing over there Jake?”
Re: David Moyes
Venn diagram of "Everton's best players" vs Moyes' Favourites"
For me it only differs last season by one ageing centre back (who we needed for large chunks) and one player no longer here.
This season...well.
Re: David Moyes
I guess it's preferences, and I suspect a lot of things apart from simply player skillset.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2026 2:32 pm He is also supposed to use his agricultural knowledge to graze them in the most productive areas of the field…

I'd play differently again, but I'm not much of a farmer.

Yep.TheRam wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2026 12:16 pm You can’t bring up the last thirty years and say we’re impatient mate.
The club should count themselves lucky that 50k still want to turn up every week.
Europe is the bare minimum expectation and should always be in an era where nine teams are qualifying for Europe.
Easier than ever to qualify for Europe. Easier than ever to win European competition.
In the last 3 years 10 different PL teams have won a trophy (not including anything relating to promotion). No reason why that can’t (and should) be us.

I’m sure you would also give more time on the grass to the younger cattle who need the nutrition to grow at this vital stage of their development…

Re: David Moyes
Reading between the lines what Angus Kinnear said that TFG weren't happy with our finish last season and Moyes is in the last year of his contract he either doesn't get a new one or if we have a poot start he'll be gone
Eddie Howe anyone?

Which was better?Bumble wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2026 1:34 pm Or maybe he has realised that this isn't the Everton he remembers, where he had free rein to say and do as he pleases as he had Kenwright above.
Now he is accountable, doesn't have the run of all transfer dealings and a fanbase that have different expectations.
Plus, of course, his contract running down and seemingly no desire from above to extend.

This was it for me.Kerryblueboy wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2026 2:16 pm When his back was to the wall last season with injuries he played guys who hadn’t played all season up to then and we beat villa and forest away with the likes of Rohl Patterson o Brien at centre half but the minute he got a few guys back it’s back to the tried and trusted back to 1 up top long balls Center half at full back and Keane in the team he has always had favourites since the first day he was here and still has
Whenever we saw JOB at centre half we looked solid and results picked up. The young lads like Rohl and Tim worked their socks off too and the freshness and rotation seemed to work.
Then players came back and we went back to same patterns of play, same players out of position and same results.
He really doesn't help himself. Final 6 games point in proof. Stale tactics, players out on their feet and no changes, apart from the usual Barry/Beto 60th minute change.
He either couldn't see it, which is worrying. Saw it but thought things would somehow work themselves out without him changing anything, which is worrying. Or was just so stubborn that he wasn't going to give in to any outside pressure to try and change it, again worrying.

Re: David Moyes
I think Eddie Howe is nailed on to be next manager, either after this season when Moyes contract runs out or if we get off to terrible start.Evertonian418 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2026 3:28 pm Reading between the lines what Angus Kinnear said that TFG weren't happy with our finish last season and Moyes is in the last year of his contract he either doesn't get a new one or if we have a poot start he'll be gone
