Re: Beto
The more I think about it, the more I think a 3-5-2 makes a lot of sense for the players that we have, and still gives us defensive and midfield solidity while giving a bit of additional threat. We are strongest in the middle of the pitch so it maximises that by effectively having 8 outfield players in the middle and it also covers over our lack of effective wingers and full backs, by utilising them as wingbacks. Doucoure could play as the most advanced of the 3 CMs to give 3 legitimate attacking options in the box.
Pickford
Tark Branth Myko
Garner McNeill
Gana Onana
Doucoure
Beto DCL
For all their limitations, Garner and McNeil have good engines and can sometimes deliver a good ball. You have Chermiti to rotate with the 2 strikers.
I think that setup, if it's well trained for 3 weeks, steers us easily to safety.

Re: Beto
Found his level and on a decent run at the moment but he also went 3 months between October and December without a goal and recent hatricks against the mighty Maidstone in the cup and Rotherham have given a bit of a false light on his season. Nine goals in 37 league games is hardly prolific, he's having a reasonable season in the Championship but it's a massive difference to the PL.

I’m sure being sat on our bench forever would also help him improve to where he’s even at nowGash wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2024 8:56 am Found his level and on a decent run at the moment but he also went 3 months between October and December without a goal and recent hatricks against the mighty Maidstone in the cup and Rotherham have given a bit of a false light on his season. We'll get a bag of I told you so. If they come up, he'll be a prem striker. If played in the right system he's bagging.Kerryblueboy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 3:55 pm Simms is flying it 2 more again so far today 13 in 10 games are we due anymore money if he does well
Re: Beto
My only issue with selling Simms is that I think we'd have had the same goal output from him as we've had from Beto, so really it's been a bad piece of business selling one and buying the other for £25m.
And I didn't even rate Simms so it's not like I think we messed up letting him go... Just recruited very poorly and expensively to replace him.
