See this feels detached from reality to me.

It is fair to say dyche has done a good job with his low block.

It is fair to say dyche does less well when the team is asked to step up or create an opportunity.

Is it not then fair to say that someone else could feasibly do a good job at both? Or a slightly less good job at one and better at the other? Or worse at both?

Why is Dyche the absolute best possible performance we could ever imagine?

It's ok to say, we can't afford to sack him tbh.

It's madness to say, all managers are exactly the same or worse than dyche.

Because this is an opinion, and some people might not share this opinion.

Don't think it's absurd to say move on from Dyche in the summer. The man has been the person needed for this season, I can't say I'm convinced that'll be the case in a stronger league next season.

It is all just a moot point though. I don't see anyone else managing us for a few years regardless.

Did actually do well when everyone was fit so maybe we need to see how it goes with key players back and others getting a little rest before lighting the torches and dusting off the pitch forks?

I'd love to have seen a new 'progressive' manager come in in the past 6 weeks and just stand there scratching his head as he tries to work out how to win and play pretty football with Harrison off Beto, and Garner partnering Gana in midfield. Think it's safe to say they'd have struggled too.

I've said it a bunch of times, but there's bugger all point in judging someone under the conditions to fail, you need to give them the conditions to succeed and then make judgement on if they meet expectations.

Expectations given everything from injuries to key players, fatigue from a small squad, the circus of points deductions, and the pressure of a relegation battle should be that we struggle... So to meet those expectations isn't really that surprising, and some fancy footy manager wouldn't have found it easier in the slightest.

The hilarious mischaracterisation of, and wild exaggeration about, the opinion that Dyche should be under pressure/replaced at the end of the season doesn't make for a fair conversation, and betrays a weird insecurity in some of those people defending Dyche and their argument for the defence.

Doesn't apply to everyone on here btw.

Any competent coach would come in and see a spine of branthwaite Onana dcl and duke and get them playing better not just lumping it long to contests that day has gone and he has been found out now as most teams can defend that stuff and hit us on the counter it’s laughable some of the excuses and reasons all the players fault etc he isn’t setting us up to win he is setting us up to be tight compact frustrate the opposition and hopefully score from a corner

13th/14th would have been adequate for me. Haven't seen much to give me confidence for next season though as we've only got worse under him as the season has gone on. There'll be no Burnley and Sheffield United stinking up the bottom of the league next season.

We only stayed up on the last day of the season last year so I'd happily have taken 16th given the business we did in the summer... Reckon that's about where we are as a team and squad, any higher would obviously be great but I'm not seeing anything in this team and especially the squad itself that should sustain a performance level of higher than 16th.

What would you expect from a different manager next season?

One giant black mark against Dyche's tenure is not getting DCL firing. Things could be totally different for us even if he was a 1 in 3 striker this season. Yeah he's missed a lot of chances, but the direction, the training, the rotation etc... buck stops with Dyche. I do think we're crossing from too deep, and that's a tactical issue.

Although slight catch 22 in that he's the only recent manager that's got Dom fit and playing regularly.
