Not to mention Denise walking off with £3.5 million, no wonder she made that bullshit up about the headlock !

Im confused..we got a 10 point penalty. Reduced ok. Now we have a second one. Why?
Is it because they changed rules regarding when financial figures had to be in?
Or is it for a different time scale?

Great on their CV's... gross incompetence on how to manage the finances of a football club

It's a separate time scale (two of the three already covered years plus the subsequent one) but imposing two penalties in the same season for something assessed annually seems ridiculous.
Never mind anyway, we'll make sure it's just a fine by the time City get dealt with.

It is absolutely insane to be punished twice in one season though.

We've probably benefited from it as we would have been down last season.

Not sure I'd want it pushed to next season though. Very much feel we can survive this season and teams coming up will mean we need more next season while continuing to sell players.

Whole thing is managed so poorly by the PL.

I mean if there is no potential downside to an appeal then surely an appeal is 100% certain to be lodged on every occasion, why would the PL want that ?

You are absolutely correct. With any of these appeals there is a risk they could increase the penalty. It definitely makes it a bit of a gamble.

Would love to know the mental gymnastics they are using to convince themselves that their larger financial breaches which provided a sporting advantage are somehow worthy of less of a deduction than ours.

I think we should get our sanction pushed back to the same time as City's because there won't be any points deduction current, future or retrospective by then and that's what stinks the most.

The principle (whether it advantages us or otherwise) of punishing a club twice in a season for an offence you can only commit annually is absolutely absurd.

"Could have been worse, could have been last season" is on the PL for me. Also, the idea of imposing mid season points deductions for historic offences is ludicrous.

Personally I would scrap the whole system. It's doing nothing to protect small clubs going out of business due to shit owners (Macclesfield, Bury, nearly Southend etc etc), it's doing nothing to level the playing field as the chosen few continue to spend incredible amounts more than the rest, there are numerous loopholes (loaning players via clubs to offset wage liabilities on to different balance sheets, Villa literally selling Villa Park to themselves to plug a gap) which make it pointless as well.

If they absolutely insist on it though, any deductions should be made in the summer for the following season so each club (those punished and those competing against them) know where they stand. Adjustments to the table in March (Forest) and then us in April are ridiculous.

At best it's incompetence.

I read that this morning. There is so much wrong with this process but the very idea that the EPL is now taking out ads to try to convince politicians that the League is its own best regulator takes it all to a new level of farce.

Yes, the League is the most successful in the world, worth billions and having an impact on communities (Everton in the Community says hi) but that makes it even more ludicrous that it has at its heart a regulatory system that has no transparency, no clear rules and is administered by a series of ad hoc independent commissions featuring different people who reach different conclusions for different reasonsand apply different punishments based on different criteria.

The fact that the clubs themselves actually voted for this system, no doubt convinced by Masters that this was a foolproof masterplan to defeat the government (and to a lesser extent the EFL) should be enough to convince the government and anyone else interested in trying to protect the future of the game to act.

I still have a sneaky hope these 2 points will be deferred to next season on appeal. Creating further chaos seems the more likely outcome of appeals than anything consistent or sensible.

The basis of it is that we are cheats and we cheat every season, they bang on about our covid losses and complain they couldn't use as much covid losses as us while they wasnt even in this league during covid, then they carry on banging on about our covid losses and that we are being protected by the prem as the prem hate forrest but love everton also they was only over budget by a few months because they wanted to hold out for Tottenham buying Brennen johnson

That's basicly it in a nutshell along with lots of derogatory stuff against scousers
