Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Every single year everyone says 'if united get the right manager then they will be BACK'
It runs way deeper.
They likely aren't doing anything for a long time.
Just wait Jared....go to Madrid.

Yeah, you're right there.Jimmywhack wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 6:50 pm I hope he stays but to put a spin on this he can say that and then if he leaves he has the easy "I didnt want to go but the club needed me to"
For what it's worth I still believe he goes this season sadly. But one more season out of him would be epic.
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
I also however do believe no one will pay anywhere near what we want for him this window. So there is a chance.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
I'm fine with him going whenever it is, as long as we get paid properly for it.
Seen a few articles flying about quoting ''Everton insiders'' saying we don't need to have a firesale and we don't need to accept lowball offers for our players. The next load of TV money and season ticket money has eased cashflow problems in the short term. So that's encouraging.

Obviously ETH is for me very substandard and I'd be advising swerving if he's still in charge.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 7:09 pm Nah, not for me, chief. There's still a chance they're keeping ETH, which is absolutely wild.
Wait for another club that's going to be stable and develop you properly. You look at how Rashford has gone backwards, how they've completely mismanaged Sancho and others, and I think if you and your agent are smart, you wait for a better opportunity. Man U would be worst of the big clubs to go to.
Have to remember though that despite some obvious negatives around UTD they've won 2 cups I think in the past 3 years and competed in Europe every season... These are big draws for a player, and one looking at that LCB England spot and understanding if they get in there now they may well keep it for the next decade.
There's better fits for Jarrod, but they might not be interested and his career could take a huge jump forward moving to a club like UTD.

Like I say, easily the worst of the big clubs to join.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 7:25 pm Obviously ETH is for me very substandard and I'd be advising swerving if he's still in charge.

If they're the only serious bidder, back yourself to have another really good season and wait for a City/Arsenal/Madrid type club to come in for you, and stay away from the circus at Old Trafford.
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
I'd probably say Chelsea is a worse option tbh, but yes Man U definitely isn't up there with the best around... However I'm not sure Arsenal (Gabriel) or City (Gvardiol) need Branthwaite. No idea about Madrid's defence tbh but there's probably not that many clubs who are real title challengers you can pin your hopes on buying you, especially if your club actively try and sell you because they need the cash.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 7:27 pm Like I say, easily the worst of the big clubs to join.

I agree UTD aren't the best option, but they might be the only real option if we do flog him this year.

Agree. All of the pressure and scrutiny with none of the upsides you’d normally associate with this type of move.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 7:09 pm Nah, not for me, chief. There's still a chance they're keeping ETH, which is absolutely wild.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Players who get to this level have immense levels of self belief.
Branthwaite will be looking at that United side and seeing that its biggest issue is its defence, one which he (maybe correctly) thinks he can go in and fix and get them back in the CL

Or he'll believe he should be playing for a side winning the champions league rather than just qualifying for it.StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 6:52 am Players who get to this level have immense levels of self belief.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Or he may think if he has second season syndrome he might not get the chance next year. Although I don’t think that’ll be the case.
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
100% no chance. Jarrad will hopefully stay another year and then move to someone like City or Real.Bluebridge wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 8:34 am Or he may think if he has second season syndrome he might not get the chance next year. Although I don’t think that’ll be the case.
I do think he needs one more year with us anyway. His only slight weakness is one on one with the elite players in the league. If he can get better at that side of the game and keep a few more of them in his pocket, then the world will be his oyster.
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
City have plenty of top class CBs, just don't see him going there any time soon.Gary1878 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 12:39 pm 100% no chance. Jarrad will hopefully stay another year and then move to someone like City or Real.

He'll end going to the best option who's willing to pay the most at the time we actively try and sell him. That might be Man UTD, it might be Liverpool... It could be Chelsea although I think that'd be the worst move he could make, but it's still a possibility.
All would be a significant step up from us though and I don't see him turning his nose up at any in the hope someone better comes along 12 months down the line.
Think people underestimate the pull of teams winning trophies and playing in Europe every year. Especially when the impact a move like that would have on his England career Vs staying with us.
