Re: England National Team
Remember that period for 2 months at the start of the season when everything Maddison touched was either a goal or an assist?
I know he got injured but he’s been back a while and seems to have really lost it

Re: England National Team
That's a sick finish. He is outrageously talented. It's just how to use him best.
Re: England National Team
He can strike a ball for sure. He's just not the best or second best in the country in the positions he's been played in, in my opinion.

Also has fantastic vision. I personally think he's too talented to leave out.

Re: England National Team
He’s as risk/reward as a good CAM but his best position is RB, can’t leave him at home but not sure he should be starting either.Bluedylan1 wrote: Also has fantastic vision. I personally think he's too talented to leave out.
Good player to bring on if you’re chasing a game but has shown time and time again that he has huge concentration lapses in defence

Where would you play him?Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 8:33 pm Also has fantastic vision. I personally think he's too talented to leave out.
Re: England National Team
Think Branthwaite earned himself a start at Wembley, won’t happen if Maguire is fit though.

Re: England National Team
Probably at right back in most games where we're expected to be the dominant team, and then consider rotating him out of the team if he's up against Mbappe or someone like that.
Re: England National Team
I can understand the argument of playing him in games England would be dominating actually.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 8:41 pm Probably at right back in most games where we're expected to be the dominant team, and then consider rotating him out of the team if he's up against Mbappe or someone like that.
I've never been impressed with him as a defender, and watching the number of teams target him, has been a joy to watch when it's at club level.
If everyone is fit, he's a distance behind Kyle Walker and Reece James for me.
Re: England National Team
Didn't watch as the line up was absolutely horrific.
I'd love to know what a manager learns from fielding an entire team of players who probably won't start the first game of the Euros. Surely playing 7 first choice with a few hopefuls to see see how they perform in a strong team makes more sense than sticking a bunch of strangers in together and having a disjointed performance?
You obviously don't want injuries this close to the tournament, but just seems like a total waste of time playing a full team of second choice players.

Re: England National Team
Yeah I would just do it on a horses for courses basis. He's light years ahead of Walker offensively, and vice versa defensively. Most games we'll be facing low block defences like tonight, but then you throw Walker in if we're playing France or someone of that ilk.cassius wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 8:46 pm I can understand the argument of playing him in games England would be dominating actually.

Re: England National Team
The theory behind it is to see the players' current attitude and sharpness. You should already know at this point whether they fit in the team otherwise.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 8:48 pm Didn't watch as the line up was absolutely horrific.
