He's a terrible full back, he's so bad on the ball and offers absolutely no attacking threat... Also means the winger gets doubled up on and becomes completely ineffective too.

We could sign a better CB too as backup and wouldn't have him above Keane anyway as third choice CB.

Sell, 100% if people are actually genuinely interested, no debate about it.

Godfrey is awful, that 4 month horrific spell coincided with him coming into the team. He won't last long at those clubs that is for sure.

Death, taxes and Ben Godfrey stealing 10+ yards on every throw-in he takes.

I think he's terrible to be honest, probably because he's had 4 years of arrested development here when he should have been under a good footballing manager tuning his game and adding to the good bits he does have.

Another player that I would be terrified to see have a run in the side, despite doing OK as a full back who does big slideys. Replace that with an Ok Full back who can pass the ball into someone's feet properly and you improve that side of the pitch instantly.

Might be a player in there but not for me, take anything and move on, so long and good luck.

This is a wild conundrum....Ashley Young or Ben Godfrey at RB?

Yeah it's the equivalent of a kick in the bollocks or a punch in the nose.

I honestly can't stand the thought of seeing godfrey or young at right back anymore.
Coleman if he signs a new deal will be well in front of them two, but we all know he won't play many games due to injuries.
So if milan or dortmund are willing to to offer us anything halfway decent for godfrey, snap their hands off.
The right back situation has been a joke for years, this is now an absolute priority to sort out and stop make do's playing week in week out.
Take the money buy a proper right back and no more godfrey, win win.

Get some money for him and get an actual right back, for the first time in a decade

I’ve seen my fair share of awful defenders in my time watching Everton.

That guy doesn’t even come close.

There’s some good things to work with there. It’s grossly exaggerated how bad he is.

Have to disagree with you there Ram, there's nothing he's actually good at apart from being fast and being a solid defensive left back when we're battling to not concede.

He's had very sporadic OK spells but mostly the correlation of him being in the side and us being shite is telling.

If we can get some money for him we have to take it and invest in a player that we can use as a proper fullback.

The two last ditch clearances at the back post (Liverpool and forget who the other was against) were something I don't think most full backs make, so he's got certain attributes and moments where he does something that gives false hope he can develop and be an effective player.

However there's just waaaay too many other areas he's lacking in, and I don't think he'll ever improve enough to be useful.

He will never be an effective full back, and his general awareness outside of the odd stellar moment is too far off to be a premier league centre half.

It's a shame because I feel like none of this is really his fault, and given the last 4 years of my life I have huge sympathy for how COVID fucked him. He's miles off though and I'd much rather see us blood Patterson at RB or buy a new one than see Godfrey there, and he'd be behind Keane for the 3rd CB slot.

Coleman even at his age is way ahead of Godfrey as a right back Godfrey should only be a squad player filling in when needed

That's quite an easy choice mate. How about a kick in the bollocks or a twist and pull on your bollocks?
