Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
Sound. Not gonna pretend I know anything about him, but liking the player profile and seems to be highly rated with the potential to increase in value significantly.
Re: Tim Iroegbunam
Young, athletic, decent tackle, and some good quality on the ball.
Needs to beef up a bit and get stronger in the gym but I don’t see how you lose much money on this type of deal.
Worst that could happen is that it doesn’t work out and you sell him for £3m-£4m to a Champ team.
The best thing that happens is that he becomes a very good, solid PL midfielder.
Worth remembering that Villa have a very good CM pairing. He wasn’t going to play much again next season and so he probably angled for the move. Alongside that and FFP, we may have a decent deal here.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
If he's another Garner then that's fine, we need depth and he's young enough to improve a fair bit.
We'd still need some actual quality in there too though, as well as squad fillers with potential.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
We are gonna win it fucking all.
In all seriousness I like the new everton. Feels like we've got some heroes now. We play to our strengths. We aren't looking to waste what money we have on the biggest name we can find. Hopefully more to come with the takeover too.
Nice to be a little bit more hopeful about the future

Really don’t get the anti-Dyche lot still peddling the “he doesn’t play youngsters” rubbish. Branthwaite, Garner - even Chimiti was getting minutes ahead of Beto by the end of the season.
I honestly don’t think he cares about age, he just wants players he can trust to carry out instructions.
Really like this transfer, especially since if it’s rising to £10m.

They seem our first team players aren't amazing and demand their minutes be given to random youngsters they've either never seen play or have been even worse when given a chance. It's all a bit crazy really. Dobbin, Simms and the Irish lad who's name I've now forgotten who played about twice all season for Leicester. Truth is its not like the clubs been proven wrong roo often when it comes to these young players. Who's the last 1 we let go who we'd want back?? Maybe the full back who's at Fulham now. There's not many though
Think old age is taking hold now. I've forgotten half their bloody names

When people decide they don’t like a manager they create all kinds of narratives to go against them.Granite wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 3:32 pm Really don’t get the anti-Dyche lot still peddling the “he doesn’t play youngsters” rubbish. Is what it is.
Branthwaite, Onana, and garner played plenty.
Dobbin was given a chance out of nothing.
And I don’t think anyone can put across a decent argument for Chermiti and Patterson playing more.
Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
Surely if we are spending £10m of what little cash we have availlable then Dyche has to be in agreement.
Re: Tim Iroegbunam
Who knows, would Dyche have wanted the likes of Danjuma, Chermiti and Beto? Not sure. Obviously he'll have a say but seems the type to just get on with things and accept whoever comes his way.
Also, it's not about Dyche not playing youngsters, it's about him not playing players he deems not ready which by all accounts this kid may not be going by the Villa fans' opinions and his lack of experience so far. I think it was pretty obvious throughout the season that the Beto/Chermiti money (and Danjuma loan) could have been spent more wisely which would have made the season easier to get through.
So yeah, long-term... Great. Short-term given the quality teams that have come up compared to those who went down, then I think it's fair to raise the question.
Not everything is a criticism against the manager.

Really no one can make a case for Patterson over young ok soTheRam wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 3:40 pm When people decide they don’t like a manager they create all kinds of narratives to go against them.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
Yeah fair point also 4 months without a win which he could have changed it and given younger players some game time and didn’t would branthwaite have played as much if Keane started the season well dyche likes older proven players his constant picking of young and giving him a new contract shows this

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
Wild to suggest there wasn't an argument for Patterson playing more. Statistically was very solid across the bored. We picked up more points when he was in the team. And the alternatives were Godfrey and Young, principally.TheRam wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 3:40 pm When people decide they don’t like a manager they create all kinds of narratives to go against them.

Re: Tim Iroegbunam
And that was the case when Patterson was in the team as well throughout the first half of the year. Young and Godfrey were then personally responsible for countless broken attacks and a disproportionate number of our goals conceded.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Discussion
Surely if we are spending 10 million considering our financial situation it should be someone to play in the team not a prospect
