Iliman Ndiaye
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Fab’s stuff is all from agents. Might tread on the toes of other journo’s but it’s not like any particular transfer can be “owned” by an individual journalist.
Anyway, his account is run by his company and I don’t think he even posts anymore. It’s become a business and I don’t really see it as a credible journalist account. Just a footy pop culture account.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
I do like this signing but there’s still the worry if ultimately, this lad is good enough. No proven pedigree at the top level.
I guess £20m is a punt nowadays. Toss of a coin if he makes it.
Very technical footballer though, and God knows we need more of them.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
I guess I am optimistic from the perspective that we've identified this player 2/3 years ago and have wanted hm, so there's very much a thought process behind it and it's not scattergun. 24 is a good age, with some room to develop still and have potential resale opportunities. Playing in England already is also helpful for quick assimilation.
On the other hand, Thelwell's recruitment of attacking players has been sketchy at best. He needs one to work out well at this point. I haven't totally written Beto off personally, and Chermiti has shown that he has plenty to work with for the future, but it would be nice to land a player who immediately improves the team and has other clubs thinking ''why didn't we go for him?''.
I am not remotely concerned about his Marseille move. He was played out of position there all season and was under 3 managers. That can be written off as an aberration year. I'm treating it as though we're effectively recruiting from the Championship.
He was viewed as one of the best players in the Championship when he was at Sheff U. In 22/23, he scored 14 goals and got 11 assists in 46 games playing in AM most of the time, and sometimes playing second striker. That is an excellent return. We've been asking for the club to recruit from the Championship a lot more in recent years, given the talent there, and we've seen players like Maddison, Eze, Olise, Gyokeres, Wharton all show that there's lots of quality to be had.
So I'm pretty happy with it and I don't think £20m is unreasonable at all. One good season in the Prem and that skyrockets.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Experience playing in a similar type of role to how Dyche likes Doucoure to play is valuable. Young enough that at £15m if it doesn't work out we can probably sell him for an ok amount in a couple years.
I think if we end up with an ok prem player it's a good deal, anything more than that and it's excellent.
I think we still need a winger and I'd like a right back in addition to this. Not sure I can see all that without a significant outgoing, although our wage bill will still be lower with Gomes and Alli gone.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
If he’s done it at the Championship level, he can absolutely perform at the PL level.
He doesn’t really play in a position I see as a pressing, immediate need but I think we’re in a position where talent throughout the squad is depleted, particularly in attack, and we’ll pickup any young player with ability provided they fit our budget and wage structure.
Looks like a huge upgrade in terms of passing ability at that position. For all his merits, Doucoure is pretty much all energy and ball-carrying so it could be a big evolution to add someone who brings those same things but a bit slicker with the ball at his feet.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
You’d think that due to psr situation that this transfer would need to happen after the 30th.
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
This one is encouraging if he can play in the Doucoure role, as we need more guile in that position and he looks like he offers it. Keep DCL to play off him, get a right winger with pace in and a right back then we are good.

Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Yes, and another cm like Bove, and one of the cb’s we’ve been linked with and we’d be potentially flying
Re: Iliman Ndiaye
Good signing very happy with that.
Young, decent price, fits our system, there’s a role ready for him in the team, good ceiling to get better. Also a long term target for us which is a good sign.
Ticks all the boxes.
Not too fussed it didn’t work out in France. Marseille were a shambles last season.
