Erm, which top 6 would that be Jim? Or did you mean top 7? Oops, top 8 maybe?
Re: Today's Football 2023-24
An hour and a half build-up, I think I might give that a miss - going round and round in circles will make me dizzy.
Re: Today's Football 2023-24
Canada has made it out of the group stage at the Copa America (our first invite to the tournament). Probably the toughest group with Argentina, Peru, and Chile.
Lost to Argentina in the opening game but beat Peru 1-0 and drew 0-0 with Chile.
Now moving on the play Venezuela in the quarters with a real chance of winning that and heading to the semifinals where we would likely run into Argentina again.
The other invited concacaf teams have not done well - Mexico and Jamaica eliminated and the US could go out tomorrow as they play Uruguay.
Only scored 1 goal under Jesse Marsch but have been solid defensively. I'm not convinced on his structure with us - we are excellent down the wings but create nothing through the middle.
Still, big chance to beat Venezuela and head to a semi final of a major tournament. It would be a huge step forward ahead of the 2026 WC.

Might not be the right thread for this - so please move if necessary. Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately for everyone, Martinez was at it again last night for Argentina.

Canada advances to the semi finals of the Copa America to play Argentina.
Tied Venezuela 1-1 and won on penalties.
Should have probably won by 2 or 3 but poor finishing and our keeper getting chipped from 40 yards by Soloman fucking Rondon meant we had to go through penalties to win.
Abysmal refereeing as well, just shocking stuff. Nothing can compare to how bad referees from central and south America are.
Huge opportunity against Argentina - definitely have the physicality and pace to cause them problems but have to start finishing our chances. XG of 6 in 4 matches but only scored 2.

While on the subject of Copa America, just want to add that James Rodriguez has been one of the best players at the tournament.
I will NEVER forgive what fucking Benitez did to our club.
