Dont want him to go but if we got £75 million, we should be able to buy two centre halves and a right back.

It's weird but lots of people aren't capable of putting themselves in somebody else's shoes and imagining what their perspective is and why they might think/feel that way.

So with Man U fans and the Man U media, they aren't even necessarily trying to be dicks. They often don't seem aware of their own biases. They see the situation quite plainly as ''we're the bigger club, we're going to pay plenty of money for him, of course he wants to come here. That's the natural order of things and the deal will be done''.

They don't look at it from Everton's perspective at all. They don't consider that we don't need to sell him. They don't consider that we'll be more than happy if he stays here for at least another season. They look at it as ''Everton are over-charging us because we're Man Utd, and everybody tries to take the piss in the transfer market with us''. Again, only considering the entire thing in relation to how it affects them, and what it says about them. Kinda like a narcissist.

I suppose it's the nature of privilege to not even consider that your perspective might not be the only one that matters. Also, living in an echo chamber surrounded by other people who have the same biases doesn't help.

Maybe we do the same thing when we're buying from a smaller club? I don't know. I don't feel like we do really. I think we look at other club's forums and ask ''do they want to sell him?'' or think ''they're asking for this amount of money because he's really important to them?'' etc etc.

I think £60m + £5m add ons will be our acceptance point.

And, BD, we did act a bit like that regarding Koeman towards Saints fans.
But on the whole we're pretty magnanimous about things. This Philogene, for example. N one is seriously trying to belittle his current club or Ipswich about it all.

That’s probably because we kinda know our place these days, sadly.

Years ago i used to work with a lad that was a big utd fan.
He's a tidy guy who knew his football and was level headed.
That was until it became clear that ronaldo would be leaving to join Real madrid.
He couldn't believe that Madrid had the barefaced cheek to want Ronaldo to play for them when he was so important to utd
I took great delight in telling him welcome to our world and what did it feel like to get a taste of their own medicine that you have been forcing the rest of us to swallow for years on end cherry picking the best talent from all over.
They aren't anywhere near where they once were, but the sense of entitlement with their fans burns as brightly as ever

I think that would go from wanting £75m to just unavailable this summer. Not selling whatever they offer (which was never going to be silly money).

Onana was always going to be the one that was most likely to be sold. Very very happy for Jarrad to stay as long as he wants

I don't think we were ever going to sell him for less than £70-80m, even if Onana didn't move.

Fuck United and their fans who believed that we will sell to them at 35-40m because we were fucked by PSR. Not many good players anyways want to come to United as it's been a death knell for many talented youngsters now. So, if they want him they better pay a premium for it.

If there is any truth in the narrative that Utd had already agreed a £150k a week deal with him, can we not report this as illegally tapping him up? I was always under the impression that you couldn't discuss personal terms until a deal had been agreed in principle with the selling club.

Most clubs have decided not to bother with that after the Premier League bottled giving Liverpool any punishment over the van Dijk saga.

Every single transfer involves tapping up, it may not be directly, but all demands will be discussed way in advance. Man U would have been having discussions with his agent for ages, although it's a bit of a no brainer anyway that they would be agreed, 'Jarrad, do you want to quadruple your wages'

Love United fans praising their club for not overpaying.

£70m isn’t overpaying for this lad.

A smart club gets in there first and takes the risk before city and real come in for him.

Very happy to have him for another season though.

Pickford, tarkowski, Brathwaite is as good as it gets for a club like us.

People said the same when we rejected £40m from Chelsea for Stones and we ending up selling him a year later for £10m more. Some players are just obviously going to be brilliant.

Mind you, Man United fans still haven't figured out that we don't need or want to sell him and therefore think they've one-upped us by not meeting our valuation. We'll probably sell him for £70m next season, we'd rather keep him for now.
