Shame but necessary. You just get the feeling we had no intention of building around him and flipped him in the time we wanted but probs about 10m or so short of what we planned?

I like him and will follow his career tbh. I like his style.

Totally. Was surprised this transfer didn't happen last summer to be honest. We've probably made an extra few quid by keeping him that additional 12 months, but he was never for the long term. We were a stepping stone and he was an easy profit, everyone wins.

Yup. A few more of these, please to solidify the books and give a firm basis to build from and then some of them can start sticking around and we can level up across all positions, slowly, gradually to the point where we are actually a team of quality throughout.

Not as exciting as throwing a James Rodriguez into your pub team, but definitely more likely to lead to sustained success.

This is the way a football club of our size should be continually run.

Buy quality, v talented young players, develop them and sell them for a profit onto clubs in a better position or those that are right at the top.

There is no shame in this and you can still be extremely competitive. Clubs of our size all around Europe do it. Dortmund have been great at it. But you have to have a good history to demonstrate to players that if they perform at the club then a big move will follow.

Hope we don't ask Villa to pay the money directly to 777. Don't want this one going west at the last minute.

Don’t think I have ever been less bothered about somebody leaving for such a large amount of money

Think he will be a fantastic player with a great career, but it was never going to be us under Dyche.

I dunno.

Can see him doing well but Emery and Dyche are more similar than a lot of people realise.

It will be up to him to realise his potential.

Yeah, plus it's quite an underwhelming career move, might have been different if he was off to a huge Champions League club but Villa's not the big move he was tipped to make.

Can see Villa's season going in the same way as Newcastle last year.
