Pre-Season 2024
Re: Pre-Season 2024
The three new boys combining for this was definitely the highlight there, a promising combination.

Yeah, for all that I like about Dyche, I fully expect him to persist with subpar performances from returning players for a few weeks before considering starting roles for the new additions.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 6:15 pm Dyche tends to be cautious and goes with what he knows initially.
With Ndiaye and Lindstrom, I think it might be similar to last season, where he didn't start with Branthwaite for a few games, despite it being painfully obvious that he should be in the team. That could also be wishful thinking on my part.
I think he has a bit of what used to frustrate me with Moyes in that he’ll stick with something that’s not working for a few weeks to be sure it’s broken before making changes. It can be infuriating but when you compare it to all of the managers we’ve had in the Moshiri era, who just start chopping and changing and guessing at what might work when things get rough, I can actually appreciate the methodical approach.
I do think he’ll eventually make changes to improve the balance and stick with them, just not as fast as we all want.

Re: Pre-Season 2024
Well if that is the case at least we know we have a game changer on the bench with Nidaye.

Yeah, we’ve been crying out for someone with a little more guile to play behind the striker.MexicanToffee wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 6:27 pm Well if that is the case at least we know we have a game changer on the bench with Nidaye.
Doucoure puts in a lot of work and has scored some huge goals but someone who can run with the ball and has a better sense of when to release the ball to a teammate will help us make more of the counterattacking opportunities we tend to create.
There’s a huge opportunity for someone like Ndiaye to shine in this system, hope he gets his chance sooner rather than later.

Did my head in the amount of times Darren Griffiths said about it being the last ever friendly at Goodison, could understand if it was the last ever game, but even then it wouldn’t need mentioning every 30 seconds.

Re: Pre-Season 2024
With it tapering off into sharp points, at distance and on moving players, you lose a lot.
Also that old style is a bit classical, everything else about the design is new and modern (except maybe the collar, you could argue) so there is just no cohesion. Front and back look like they belong to two different shirts.
Re: Pre-Season 2024
I’m a fan of dyche but you can’t deny how cautious he is with integrating new signings and changing the team in general.
I get if lindstrom doesn’t start, but the ill man has to be in from the off.
Nice to have the options. I think we are a full back and a centre mid away from having a really decent squad.
