That ‘if we spent well’ though sounds a bit like ‘if we won the league’ or ‘if I win the lottery’ it feels as distant and as unlikely.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 2:11 pm If we spent it well though we'd be stronger than we are currently.
I think JOB is fantastic but I don't think he's irreplaceable, especially in a Dyche team where he's generally got the best out of CBs and had them performing at their max level or even beyond.
DCL is my favourite player but again he's replaceable. I don't even think we'd need a brilliant player to come in, just someone who's not Beto or Maupay and fits the system.
Then buy a RB to go with the CB and ST, money left over for a CM and backup LB.
Only issue is we'd need to buy decent players which we've hardly got a track record of. If we want to progress as a team though this is exactly how it would need to work.
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Honestly wouldn't bother me at all selling him to them, no connection to any of the current players really and we are so far from them we may as well be playing field hockey.

I was thinking this. About the connections. Not really sure I’m connected with any of them.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Yeah I'm exactly the same. We aren't in competition with them and we have no ability to keep players long term the top teams want anyway.
Even less arsed if Gordon ends up there
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Would be made up if Gordon ended up there because the vitriol I could muster against him would heat our home through the coldest winter.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 11:29 am Yeah I'm exactly the same. Mad that yous wouldn't be bothered
The pain I would experience seeing players I used to love smiling as they lift trophies would destroy me.

Yes this is unfortunately true... However to progress as a club we do need to do this, and we can only do so if we first sell the likes of Branthwaite and DCL to whomever offers an acceptable amount.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 11:10 am That ‘if we spent well’ though sounds a bit like ‘if we won the league’ or ‘if I win the lottery’ it feels as distant and as unlikely.
The part after that is terrifying but at some point we need to learn how to do it right.

I don’t think doing it late in the window would be doing it right, particularly as Dyche isn’t playing our new cb over Keane, plus Beto is a bit poo, Chermiti is injured, and Maupay is a twat.
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
I feel like I have more of an emotional connection to Richarlison over any of our current lot. Genuinely hope he does well for himself, I’m lukewarm at best with our current crop.
