Relegation Battle
Re: Relegation Battle
Jesus, this is the saddest of threads. Right now I have no concerns about relegation. That may change come October/November but 31st August? Get a grip.
Re: Relegation Battle
He did throw them under the bus but the interview I saw (BBC) he also clearly said they “did so much right until the first goal”sam of the south wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 10:56 am He’s just thrown them under the bus, though, without acknowledging their previous dominant performance, further adding to the gut punch of the 3 goal collapse.
Is that not an acknowledgement they’d done well up to that point?

He did, but he made it seem like they were doing everything I asked of them, and then the negative stuff afterwards was all down to them.
He also kept banging on about doing the basics.
I’m worried he’ll make the side immediately revert back to the moribund pragmatism of before.

Re: Relegation Battle
Last season we took 1 point from the first 5 games. I don't think it's panic stations just yet. Brainthwaite and a fit Garner back along with Mangala after the international break.
This gives us a further few options to rest Gana and rotate Garner with Iroegbunham. Garner could also cover at right back but Dyche has got to bring Dixon into the reckoning and give Coleman a breather. Gana and Coleman cannot play 90 mins.
Aside from Villa which i'm not expecting much from, the other three fixtures presents a great opportunity to put points on the board.

If he doesn’t realise the way we played for 80 odd minutes is the way forward and work is needed on closing a game out for the last 10 or so then he deserves all he gets.sam of the south wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 5:04 pm He did, but he made it seem like they were doing everything I asked of them, and then the negative stuff afterwards was all down to them.

He’s at fault for not bringing more fresh legs on but I can’t get past the fact that 11 professional footballers should have been capable of shutting that game down at the end. If it was that some were out of gas why was over half the team charging into the opponent’s penalty area if they didn’t have the legs to get back? I can’t believe Dyche of all managers was encouraging that.
If they were that tired why were they not just staying deeper. Baffling & the players have to take a lot of the blame for what happened
Re: Relegation Battle
Honestly this is the thing that worries me the most after yesterday... Hope I'm wrong but I fully expect us to be difficult to beat and highly inspiring after the international break.sam of the south wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 5:04 pm

A glimmer of hope is that Ndaiye will still be running at people and being positive which might inspire those around him to play some footy still.

Re: Relegation Battle
I don't want to do it anymore. Too much time. Too much misery. For very little in return
It's like having a family member who's a drug addict. You love them and you hope it gets better but it never does.
I'm at the point where I want to try and be doing something else to avoid watching or even checking the scores now. What are we getting out of this. August and we already want the season to be over. When was the last season we didn't want to end early?
We probably won't go down. They'll probably be 3 worse. It will almost certainly be the same shite next season too.
I really wish I could escape. I don't even like football anymore

Roxy got me an early birthday present - some old when skies are grey zines.
Reading one last night and laughing because I think we are just destined to now be shit and it is a slog to watch us.
These two paragraphs stood out

Their version of Stan with Kenwright stalking Rooney was a particular highlight.

Wasn’t sure where to put this. Thought about the Dyche thread but think this might be a better one for it:

Textor is not the answer
We have incredible debts
The new stadium is the only thing making us attractive to buy
Recruitment has improved
Sean Dyche has a short shelf life

We're really not that touchy-feely-group huggy here. I promise!Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 6:16 pm Roxy got me an early birthday present - some old when skies are grey zines.

Listened to that pod today, my takeaway is the same as yours. It sure wasn't the pod I was hoping for at 80 minutes in to Saturday's match.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 10:41 pm Now I’ve watched it, main takeaways:

Don’t usually have time for such lengthy discussions but this was a proper reality check, think it should be compulsory viewing for any Everton fan who doesn’t appreciate the full depth of the shit we are in.
