Re: Jake O'Brien
£15m isn’t a lot of money though is it? It is for us but you need to be spending £40m for pretty much guaranteed PL quality players.
£15m is buttons and I think the red flag is signing away his best years to Everton. No decent clubs were in for him and Palace pretty much gave him away to Lyon. Every chance he’s not up to it.
What’s the failure rate of players coming into this league? 50%? And of those under £20m? Probably 70%?

Re: Jake O'Brien
Well I'm obviously not talking about him as a signing in context of the leagues great signings, but about his immediate future at Everton.Granite wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 10:23 am £15m isn’t a lot of money though is it? I.e. he's obviously looked shite in training.

Re: Jake O'Brien
Given how slow and reluctant Dyche is to introduce new signings, I think it's more likely a reflection of the manager's conservatism and stubbornness that he's not been in the starting lineup yet, rather than him being shit in training.

Re: Jake O'Brien
He should have retired years ago, and I'm shocked nobody at the club has been able to make him see that.
Re: Jake O'Brien
Just don't think he uses the ball well from what little I've seen, very safe and plays it to whoever is nearest to him.
If the last 9 minutes against Bournemouth didn't happen everyone would be saying how well Keane played, solid at the back and really good on the ball.
Obviously the last 9 minutes are massive in this assessment of his performance but what happened before he played a large part in, and I don't think O'Brien from what I've seen has this in his locker.
Do we want to play out more from the back, or do we want to go long to DCL but be more solid over 90 mins as it seems we have to sacrifice one of those depending on which player starts alongside Tarks when Branthwaite is out.
Obviously I've not seen much of JOB but he doesn't seem like a ball playing CB from what I have.
