Think the latter was Harrison, according to the commentator anyway, but the three have been linking up pretty well together. Green shoots.

Re: Dwight McNeil
So just the bit after the set piece then?
Thank god he's in the ten.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Wish he’d stop setting up goals tbh.
I need to see a 94% progressive pass rate thank you.

I'm jooooooking I'm joking.
Delighted for him, lovely feet. That being on the pitch immediately following a set piece role really suits him.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Can’t argue with his numbers personally would rather ndayie in the 10 but if he keeps setting up goals no problem for me
Re: Dwight McNeil
I think he'll continue scoring bangers. He's one of those players where I feel that it doesn't look like a fluke. He has done it throughout his career and playing in the centre just gives him more opportunities to hit those
On a lighter note, this is how Bily would have fared had Moyes played him in the centre.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Yes a little, I was saying - "so McNeil was just responsible for the pass (assist) that came immediately following a set piece" - because you had clarified that actually it was the much maligned Harrison playing the defence splitters.
Re: Dwight McNeil
Actually tbf I'm never a full on stats person, I think you have to take them with some consideration for what you're seeing on the pitch too.
This does show he's able to be creative in that role, but he also really struggles in some games too.
One thing I would argue those stats show though is that he's more suited to playing in there than Ndaiye who isn't that much of a creative passer, which I do think is important for playing centrally.
Re: Dwight McNeil
We won't know until he's asked to do it and we see him try. He's doing his job well (dribble as far as you can and win a throw in).AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 12:07 pm Actually tbf I'm never a full on stats person, I think you have to take them with some consideration for what you're seeing on the pitch too.

Re: Dwight McNeil
True, I'd like to see him doing more creative passing out wide before I believed he was suitable for the role though tbh.
Is he dribbling always because that's the player his is, or the manager's instructions? Hard to say either way this early on I suppose.
Love him and his attitude though regardless of where he ultimately ends up playing in the team.

Re: Dwight McNeil
He's drifted in and out of games at times recently, when we move the ball quickly enough then I think he looks great, but there's times were I think he's played absolutely crap but then pops up with a goal and an assist from a set piece.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 12:07 pm Actually tbf I'm never a full on stats person, I think you have to take them with some consideration for what you're seeing on the pitch too.

Fortunately he's always doing the running off the ball, so you know at a minimum he's covering that side of what we need from him.
