It’s an expensive pint, each to their own, I just don’t get it, and I love a pint or 10TheRam wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 1:23 pm I got down early for a pint and leave early some times.
Sometimes the game is just really grim and you wanna get out of there.
For me in the park end, it takes at least 20 minutes to get out at full time and by then the traffic has already built up and it takes ages to get home on the bus.
Nothing wrong with leaving early, even if it’s just to get the pub quicker.

Re: Early Leavers
I only left early once, I was 13 and not allowed to go the game on my own, and didn’t want to miss the soccerbus home (even though I knew it wouldn’t go before the game ends, just too scared to get caught) and I missed 3 goals, it was against Chelsea in 85 I think, got beat 3/2 or 4-3 I think, but remembered hearing the cheers just as I exited the ground, and thought I’m never leaving early again.

Re: Early Leavers
Never used to leave early when I was younger no matter what the score was but now I'm not really arsed.
If we're getting slapped 3-0 what's the point in sitting there fuming when you could be in the pub or on the way home.

Re: Early Leavers
Maybe, it's a sad state though where having a pint is more important than the expensive ticket and supporting the team

Re: Early Leavers
I've done it twice when my lad was a bit younger and he was tired out and getting grouchy, other than that I normally stay and most of the people around me do too.
There have been games where for the last 5 we've been surrounded by empty seats but I see it as a sign of protest as it's usually when we've been super shit or thrown a game away.

If I’m in the car or staying over I wait until they are all in the shower !Shogun wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 12:51 pm That’s sound reason (and I know you travel a long way) but how many does that apply to? Feel like for most people it’s rather habit or just people trying to get to the pub quickly.
If it’s a tight match and you’re not catching a train or another commitment then I’ll never understand it no matter how much we might not look like scoring an equaliser/winner

Always get shit from my Red mates for this as well as if they'd all be sat there singing YNWA at full time if they had to watch stuff even half as bad as we have the last few years.

Re: Early Leavers
It's sound leaving when we're 3 down I'm not saying that. I'm meaning when it's a really tight score line.... you still get loads leaving it's mad
Re: Early Leavers
Literally any one of the reasons in my last post. like I said people have all sorts of reasons for leaving early and it depends when the games are as well. I occasionally leave as close as I can to the 90 minutes if I have my 7 year old with me especially if it's an evening game and we have to get back because we live an hour's drive away.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 12:40 pm It's weird.
Also Liam, im saying its shite when there is a chance for a late goal that will alter the game. Why would you leave?
plus at 1-0 down (and playing shite) the chances of us getting an equaliser are normally super low
Re: Early Leavers
Wonder how many thousand missed Betos goal against Fulham ? The only thing worth seeing and it happened in the 94th minute, 3,000, 5,000 ?
Re: Early Leavers
Not footy but back in 2009 Cardiff played Leicester in the semi finals of the European Cup (rugby). Cardiff were 14 points down with 3 minutes to go and one of my mates decided that was enough and he would see us in the pub. By the time he’d got to the pub (and those of you who know Cardiff will know how close the pubs are to the ground) Cardiff had levelled the game up, it went to extra time and the first ever penalty shoot out in Professional rugby. My mate tried to get back in but wasn’t allowed. Never leave early

Re: Early Leavers
I've no problem with people leaving early, just get on and do it. What I hate is those that shuffle along the row then stop dead in their tracks when the ball goes into the opposition's half, blocking the view of three people behind them.
I think we missed a trick with BMD. Never mind standing areas, did we consider leave early areas. Plenty of bars and bogs, lots of snacks because ninety minutes is unbearable without a pint and a packet of Toffos. All sponsored bt Tena Men.
