Re: January transfer window
Would it be more sensible to spend a few mill buying him early on sensible wages or get him for free in the summer locked into inflated wages and signing on fee for a few years?
What’s the best option?

Re: January transfer window
Doubt we have much money available so just need to make a sensible signing or two. Would Walker-Peters improve us? Definitely. Is he expensive? No.
Buy him and the RW we've been linked to and that's going to be a big help this season and also both have value for the following few seasons too for different but equally as important reasons.
Re: January transfer window
Will always be a difference of opinion on his quality that thinks whether this would be a good signing or not. He'd give us a different dynamic but not convinced he'd improve us.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 11:44 am Doubt we have much money available so just need to make a sensible signing or two. He's playing for a club with 1 win all season who are obviously bottom of the league and despite early promise in his career has never really been anything better than a PL relegation zone player. I like his attributes but I don't think it's a coincidence he's still at Southampton at 28. There's surely a decent scouting network at the club that can find a younger player that might be able to play at a higher level than that we're trying to pull away from.
If we're signing players then they need to either have much more potential than him or they need to be a sure thing imo.

Which probably means potential, as I'm not sure we can afford the other option.Shogun wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 12:01 pm Will always be a difference of opinion on his quality that thinks whether this would be a good signing or not. He'd give us a different dynamic but not convinced he'd improve us.

Doesn't have to be THAT expensive. Talking Barry-like signings where the opportunity is there.UnsyisaRhino wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 12:03 pm Which probably means potential, as I'm not sure we can afford the other option.
Re: January transfer window
Valid points for sure, I just think for the price and it immediately improving us it's one I'd be all over.Shogun wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 12:01 pm Will always be a difference of opinion on his quality that thinks whether this would be a good signing or not. He's a good attacking full back so would suit Moyes, he can cover LB although I don't think he's a strong there and doesn't eat in to any budget we have for other areas too much.
I think sometimes these kind of signings make sense providing the overall transfer strategy is well thought out.
Re: January transfer window
This made me think how Ward-Prowse isn't getting a game at Forest. Not saying he's amazing but if we sent Broja back I wouldn't be against a loan bid
Re: January transfer window
Would be the worst vibes if moyes has us spending money on ward prowse and Walker peters.
Re: January transfer window
Don’t understand how Ward-Prowse has fallen off a cliff so quickly.
Just for his set pieces alone, he would surely be a good guy to have around.

Re: January transfer window
No one said anything about spending money on JWP, a loan for the rest of the season so we have someone in the middle who can pass a ball and also a great dead piece specialist.
Of yes but if course that would make a lot less sense than Arron fucking Cresswell
Re: January transfer window
Ward Prowse is crap, genuinely he's crap. He's also now old.
Dreadful signing that for west ham.
Great service piece taker but hopefully we will have McNeil and Garner back soonish. JWP is worse and older than both, he's rubbish.

Re: January transfer window
It would. He’d be a lot more expensive and I imagine we’d be looking to buy him in the summer.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 1:03 pm No one said anything about spending money on JWP, a loan for the rest of the season so we have someone in the middle who can pass a ball and also a great dead piece specialist.

As Brap said, he’s terrible. A worse version of siggurdson.
