Baines. Imagine a left back now that could defend, attack, assist and score and look great while doing it.

Pienaar was great. His ability to just keep hold of the ball made it so easy for Baines to just bomb on without having to worry about the space he was leaving behind. He knew he could give the ball to Pienaar and he was going to get it back 15-20 yards further up the pitch. The only way anyone was winning the ball off Pienaar was by fouling him, and he was amazing at drawing in a cheap foul and winning free kicks in dangerous positions. When you add up all of the things that Baines and Pienaar brought to that Everton team, they were a pretty fucking awesome partnership.

Pienaar's ability to win you a cheap foul in the danger area, paired with Baines' magical left wand made our left hand side a pretty solid attacking force.

They also had an almost telepathic understanding. They knew exactly where the other one would be. If Baines flew forward, Pienaar would instinctively cover the gap as soon as he released the ball and wasn't afraid to tackle. Baines knew when to hold back and when to bomb forward. It was very rare that they got it wrong.

Imagine if we had landed him though.

Would have been a game changer.

Any of Baines, Arteta or Cahill really, but I'd probably go for the latter as I think he'd dovetail great with DCL and we're in desperate need for goals which he'd bring.

Who cares what he did/didn’t do for anyone else….there could be a number of reasons he “didn’t do much” elsewhere the same as players who come to us don’t do much when they come…..
Silly analogy….

Yeah, loved Ossie.
He showed how good he could be when Donovan first came on loan and he moved to a more central position and for a few months we played arguably our best football since the 80's.
And in the middle of that run when we beat Chelsea 2-1 at goodison with saha scoring both goals and missing a penalty, Ossie was absolutely outstanding that night
