Re: January transfer window
Managers have funny little quirks don’t they. I can’t remember who it was but I remember a player back in Moyes V.1 who said that he’d go mad if you took a shot from over 20yrds out. I think it was 20. Just outside the box iirc.

Yeah, I'm on board with the nasty guy theory, I don't think you can chat that much bollocks and be a genuine or decent person.kramer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 5:20 pm We were pretty awful at moving the ball in a way that created attacking gaps. Spent all of our time working on moving the ball and still couldn’t break down a half-decent defense.
I think all of our best performances after his first season were ruthless counterattacking performances.
Pleasant seeming man from the outside but I cannot agree that someone who was such a pathological liar is nice. His approach to everything was to tell people exactly what they want to hear. It what he said turned out not to be true and someone came back with receipts, he’d just do it again. I don’t know if he’s just so relentlessly optimistic that he believes what he’s saying or if he’s actually kind of a nasty person that simply knows how to deflect everything with positivity.
I hate Martinez, absolute loath the man and the utter pish that would come out his mouth, honestly right up there with Benitez for me. Chatting shite on MNF, swanning around Brazil doing the World Cup while we had no pre season sorted out, then kicked out for handing out his access all areas pass to someone, post match interviews that didn't reflect the 90 minutes of crap we'd just witnessed, throwing Baines under a bus, all the not practicing defending set pieces etc, the players fitness falling off the cliff, "phenomenal", all the soft tissue injuries and countless other moments that boiled my piss.
Remember when Kenwright sat there all starry eyed after Martinez said "I'll get you Champions League", that's the kind of interview bollocks that people come out with and something Kenwright would love and fall for. In fairness he gave it a decent go until all his flaws that Wigan fans had told is would happen started appearing towards the end of his first season.
Re: January transfer window
He was on the take with transfers as well.
We signed some really strange players during his time here.
Remember Leandro Rodriguez.

During the height of the Allardyce and Bolton days, you'd be punished for decisions in training that weren't "High percentage yields" (xG/xA in today's parlance)Bob Sacamano wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 8:06 pm Managers have funny little quirks don’t they. Getting linked to Tom cannon.
Good player but not sure if he’s premier league standard but there’s potential there.
I wonder if it’s one where we have a decent sell on fee so if we sign him for £10m, it’s only really £6m?

Re: January transfer window
We didnt want to sell him by all accounts. Wonder if we get him to rectify our mistake in selling him.
Re: January transfer window
He’s got nine goals this season.
Defo worth trying to do a deal I reckon if it’s cheap.
He’s probably better than Beto.
