Needs a goal, if he got one I think we'd see a different player... He's just completely shot of confidence. Had to score that one tonight but just feels like it's never going to happen for him. I desperately want it to though!
He just hasn't got it and never has had it apart from short bursts here and there and as gash said mostly behind closed doors.
He hasn't got the nous, the instinct the composure or the ability that's needed at this level and as you say his confidence is shot to pieces.
Who knows what would've happened had he put it away? but he didn't did he?
He did what he's done on far too many occasions.
He is what he is
He has plenty of attributes but there’s a word that’s often used when describing a top class forward - natural. He didn’t start out as a CF & don’t think he has ever consistently shown he’s a natural finisher. With the right service and full of confidence he’s ok but he looks shot to pieces
Yeah, always been a fan and wanted him to stay under a different manager but the technique for that shit was horrendous. Happy to see him leave and move on now.
Villa at Goodison last season, 0-0, clean through on goal and he has zero confidence against Martinez not helped by such poor technical ability and definition when he shoots

We have to be offering no more than half of what he's currently getting so 50k/week
Naturally he's not going to want to take that but that his problem

Doesn't even warrant that. At best I hope he leaves on deadline day and someone is daft enough to pay us a fee. Failing that the contract offers is withdrawn and he leaves in the summer.
Need to move away from getting bang average players holding the bargaining chips.
The offside issues were pretty noticeable last night.
A number of times, he's looking across the line or standing near the defender and can see the ball and literally has no need to be offside. It's not like you're even getting away with the fractional stuff the assistant ref may miss with VAR these days so why even risk it? Was a bit frustrating.
The offsides, both him and Doucoure, is something Moyes will detest. Lack of discipline and standards, and obviously something the last manager didn't bother paying attention to.
