Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
I think it's a few things, none attitude but definitely affecting his performance:The Doc wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 2:36 pm I don't normally question the integrity of players, and I know he's not missing chances on purpose obviously.
But, his levels have definitely dropped. He's had a lot of injuries which will take something away inevitably.
And there's the reality that he doesn't want to sign another contract with us. So will getting injured again be in the back of his mind?
He has to stay fit right now for the sake of his career. One more decent sized length of time out injured between now and the end of the season will harm his negotiating position for wage demands. Probably his last chance of a big old fat contract.
- Low moral from being used how he has by Dyche
- Hard to motivate himself when he's already decided to leave
- Not wanting to risk injury
- Rock bottom confidence
When I say motivation being hard to come by, I feel he's still working as hard as he can but if you know you're leaving, you're sick of how you are asked to work, and you feel the fans have turned on you, then you can give your all but in reality it's way below what you'd do if happy.
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Would be criminal to get someone to pay 15m for him
Now!!
Genuinely let’s us spend on a much better player

I've just been around the petrol station and made sure my car is full to the brim. If Newcastle are prepared to chuck £15m at us for him, I'll fucking drive the cunt there myself.
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
That's exactly the point. You don't need a £100k+ per week player to stand in the 6 yard box and tap the ball in the net. He's asking for over £100 grand a week. For that sort of money, I want a centre forward tht can do all the centre forward basics as.a bare minimum. I'm wanting a centre forward who can spin a defender and finish. I'm wanting a centre forward who scores different types of goals, not just tap ins from 3 yards out. Fuck, I want a centre forward that does the most basic thing that is expected of a centre forward. At the very least making the keeper work when he gets through on goal one on one. DCL does none of these things, but thinks he's worth £100k+ a week.

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Glaring miss the other night aside, while it’s a bit slim pickings on the striker front I wouldn’t mind us playing to his strengths.

Let's summon a search party and see if we can fucking find them...Bob Sacamano wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 11:02 pm Glaring miss the other night aside, while it’s a bit slim pickings on the striker front I wouldn’t mind us playing to his strengths.

Oh, silly me. I was under the impression that a strikers primary job was to put the spherical thing in the net. If.we just want someone to run like fuck, we might as well sign Forrest fucking Gump.Bob Sacamano wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 11:19 pm They’re literally in the post you quoted in your rant.

Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Those stats have nothing to do with the instructions given to him by his manager(s), I suppose.
Re: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
I'm sure he is expected to make runs. However, I would also imagine that there is an expectation that those runs occasionally have some sort of end product.
