Re: January transfer window
I agree with the general sentiment—there’s no need for panic buys. With key players like Garner and Timmy nearing a return, plus McNeil and Chermiti on the horizon, the squad should be solid enough to stay clear of trouble. A smart loan deal would be a sensible approach for now.

Would it not be worth trying Harrison on the left were he should be play?

Amazing what a good win does for the mood, we have gone from oh crap the whole team replacing to no need for panic buys, we've some returning, lets take our time...
fast forward Brighton 2 Everton 0....
we need at least 4/5 players

Re: January transfer window
We definitely need players still but who knows about the financial realities.
I’m sure we’re working hard looking at left backs, wingers, forwards, and midfielders.
If the right profile is available in our budget, we’ll add to the squad. The problem is it’s a big if, as it has been every window since Ancelotti left.

Yup, and Ancelotti bought a whole fun bag of “for the here and now”kramer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 3:59 pm We definitely need players still but who knows about the financial realities.

Re: January transfer window
We do need a left back. Myko isn't our favourite player but he is our only left back in the squad.
Chilwell on loan though, hmm. Quality player, but can we risk another punt on an injury prone player?

Re: January transfer window
I know the prevailing wisdom is that there’s no value to be had in January, but there’s value to be had in players with only six months left on their deal like Walker Peters, Angel Gomes, Devyne Rensch or Tariq Lamptey.
They’ll have better options than us in the summer so worth the fee now

Re: January transfer window
I like Chilwell, but while you never really know with injuries as they can happen to any player but for a club like us without a deep squad actively signing someone who is recovering from injury or has a long track record of injury just seems like a bad idea.
Re: January transfer window
Agree in part but I think it also depends on who we can get in... If someone like Chillwell is available then he improves us by quite a lot... Providing he stays fit. It's a gamble but the reward is bigger than loaning someone who doesn't move the needle much but more likely to stay fit.blueToffee wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 5:16 pm I like Chilwell, but while you never really know with injuries as they can happen to any player but for a club like us without a deep squad actively signing someone who is recovering from injury or has a long track record of injury just seems like a bad idea.
If we loan Chillwell and he breaks down we just keep playing Myko which isn't ideal but it's where we are if we loaned say Dewsbury-Hall instead. I'd argue Chillwell improves us and is in a much more needed area than Dewsbury-Hall or another midfielder not getting a game at Chelsea or whoever.
