We don’t need to spend what little money we have on a strikerfxceltic wrote:Troy Parrott - wonder whether you could get him, was a hot prospect at spurs but didn’t break thru
He’s gone to alkmaar in Holland and has scored international goals for Ireland in a shite team

Re: January transfer window
Parrot is a very good player but isn’t an out and out striker more of a 10+

Re: January transfer window
Between Spurs and Alkmaar Parrott spent three years in the Championship without scoring a goal.
Re: January transfer window
without suggetsing it as a direct comparison, harry kane spent 3 years out on loan, scored a few in league 1, and barely any in the championship across two loan spells after thatMayorFarnham wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 11:16 pm Between Spurs and Alkmaar Parrott spent three years in the Championship without scoring a goal.
point really just that sometimes it takes a while for a player to mature, parrott might be doing that right now, and probably available at reasonable cost
was just a random shout really, but he did get the winner last night away at Roma, and was eredivisie player of the month in december, Alkmaar paid 4mill euros last summer for him. Id take letting beto go and getting troy in instead.
More generally, just shows what value is about if you care to look around rather than punting on players like willian at the tail end of their careers.
Re: January transfer window
He's 22, there's not enough potential there to make him worth buying. Move on.

Re: January transfer window
Yes I do agree and I think Alan Shearer also took time to become a regular scorer. He is worth a punt but I still think the odds are long against him being a long term solution. Players seem to be scouted so heavily these days that it's rare for one to slip through the net.fxceltic wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 9:07 am without suggetsing it as a direct comparison, harry kane spent 3 years out on loan, scored a few in league 1, and barely any in the championship across two loan spells after that

Would love Ferguson and everton traditional forward, still room for them like wood, I just love this type of forward he would be a hero here and make wearing the no 9 justice, I don't feel DCL does sorry

Re: January transfer window
22 goals and 7 assists in 30 matches playing in the German 2nd division last season with Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Never know if someone's going to make the step-up but they're incredibly impressive stats playing off the left wing.
Shame the source is arse
