The bigger picture thought is that a BAD signing (cough, cough, Longstaff) is worse than no signings at all. Panicky, short-term moves almost always bite you in the ass, and it's time to break that doom loop.

Roughly translates to saying after failing to bring in Habib Diarra we've switched our attention to Chucky from Chelsea.

Must be a permanent as we can't loan due to the Broja sitch.

No idea if the source is shite or not, anyway, there ya go.

If we could get him on loan (or maybe super duper cheap) Longstaff wouldn't be the worst idea in the world given Mangala's injury.

We don't really have match fit reliable players in that position. If Newcastle were open to a loan I think it'd be a passable solution for right now.

Don't think we're alone in playing the waiting game – I expect there'll be quite a lot of movement on Sunday and Monday as the dominoes start to fall. It's not Moyes's first rodeo - he'll know what we can afford and who he wants.

There's no way we will (or should, at least) keep Broja, regardless of the cost, so that would free up a domestic loan space (to bring in Dewsbury-Hall, perhaps?), and with Mangala now out we could send him back too.

Definitely need cover up top, though, which may now have to take priority over players like Nuamah, for example.

Not pushing the panic button just yet, but reckon Saturday's result could go a long way to determining just how active we are and which positions we prioritise.

We do have reportedly £5m available to spend now though so could still put that down without any issues with PSR.

It the £40m reported price tag is true though it's irrelevant as we can't afford that on anyone let alone someone who's a bit of a gamble.
Was €30m = £25m. But same thing really.

Longstaff would be a solid addition, I don't understand the negativity towards him on here.

I think we need to start moving away from these deals.

He’s just a body who doesn’t make us any better.

If it’s a loan or a free transfer then fine, but I wouldn’t want us spending any money on him then giving him a contract for a few years.

Because whilst we know we can’t sign superstars, we all want to sign players who are at our level right now but with the potential to kick on to something better - Longstaff ain’t that

Well, my bad, i mean with the caveat of him being a cheapo buy. I love the cheapo solid buys when they come off.

Not as a statement signing.

Yeah I will be really sad if we end up with Maupay, Josh King types.

The talk of 'experience' and 'prem proven' etc is bothering me.
