Re: David Moyes - Confirmed
He said he wouldn't join a club for a relegation battle
True to his word, we trust
Would not have been my choice, credit to the owners
Excited for the FA Cup, now!

glad you have finally seen senseAudrey Horne wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:11 pm I hated the idea of him coming back. Hated it.
I've been made to look an absolute mug!!
He has distilled pride in us and the players.
3 nil up and we have players battering around the pitch closing down to try and get a 4th and the same to try to get a 5th in 92nd min.
You have players throwing themselves in front of a shot in the 89th min to keep the clean sheet.
It's sensational.
It's simple football with solid players. I'm absolutely made up.
Cheers Moysie I won't ever doubt you again!
Re: David Moyes - Confirmed
Oh the Friedkins are buzzing alright.
I mean we would have just been pleased with scrappy wins but the way we have gone about our business against Spurs, Brighton and Leicester has been tremendous.
Ok they are 3 teams that are bang out of form, but you still have to take advantage and we have done that to the fullest.
Some of the interplay that has been missing for many years has made its way back today. Especially enjoyed watching Ndiaye and Myko link up down that left hand side. Just a little give and go and all of sudden you are in down the byline. All sounds so simple but plenty of coaches before Moyes couldn’t make it happen.
So so happy. Really couldn’t have dreamt for a better start to Moyes reign.

Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say you didn't see it coming. Didn't want him back, don't know how long he should be stopping but it's so nice to feel like an Evertonian again.

I was in the camp of thinking (at least until it went completely to shit) keep Dyche this season, eek it out to the summer and rebuild.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:11 pm I hated the idea of him coming back. Hated it.

I was also pro-Moyes though. Never really got the animosity toward him.
We can all get things wrong

Anyhow, just nice to have an uplifted forum again. Hopefully the Dyche chat fades away and we can actually look forward to better football, building the squad back up and to the new stadium (the excitement over the latter has felt pretty squashed due to the problems around the club).
Kumbaya and all that.

Agree wholeheartedly with every word, Lizz, except I think Ndiaye is a bit more than solidAudrey Horne wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 5:11 pm I hated the idea of him coming back. Hated it.

Not in the fact that i hated Moyes coming back, i was meh about it but didn't hate the idea.
What i'm looking stupid about is that i've said countless times these players are shite and no matter who takes over he will not be able to do much with them.
What we have actually seen is that they can play, they can look good going forward, they can cause problems for defenders and they can score goals.
What we are seeing between Moyes and Dyche in the way the team is coached is night and day..
To be 10 points clear of the drop after just 4 games with Moyes in charge is unbelievable
Re: David Moyes - Confirmed
Feels like a proper nostalgic throw back.
The one main quality when Moyes was here first time was we where always in the game, always battled until the end and had the quality to win them.
Feels like that again, I know it's a small size sample as it's only 4 games but you can see patterns of play emerging and players who have been given clear instructions.
Look at Betos 2 goals today, both from balls played in behind which is his strength.
You just know as soon as DCL was out this is what Moyes would have been working on in training, how to best play to Betos strengths. Dyche would have just told him to leg it round and get stuck in.
As people have said, he hasn't reinvented the wheel, he's just done the basics to get this team playing better than what it was showing.

Re: David Moyes - Confirmed
i dont think people give enough credit to how good we was under moyes the first time around
we played some fantastic football, the best ive seen as an everton fan
i was 3 when we won the cup winners cup
i was actually brought up to be a red aswell until i was 6 and i asked my mum to take me to an everton game, we went the next day won 3-0 against i think was a polish team and ive been blue ever since
and apart from moyes and the 95 cup win we hve been shite apart from moyes

Re: David Moyes - Confirmed
Full on "meh" about him coming back, better than Dyche, a means to an end etc but not really up nor down about it but he's lifted the whole place since he came in. You can see the players are completely different under him, they've got confidence and look like they're enjoying their football again. Maybe in some cases it hasn't worked out, obviously Harrison and Young have fallen down the pecking order but they can't really have any complaints given the results.
Arise Sir David of Goodison, long may it continue.

Re: David Moyes - Confirmed
I doubt even Moyes thought it'd go this well.
Getting a set piece coach has really helped our football in open play.
Everton that.

Re: David Moyes - Confirmed
As said elsewhere, he's matched the previous manager's win record this season over 19 matches in the space of just 4.
15 goals in 19 before. 8 goals in 4 already.
Absolutely night and day stuff and credit to him for sorting it all so quickly.

Re: David Moyes - Confirmed
Fair play to those who said this lot could play better footy, they've shown since Moyes came in that they are more than capable.
One thing I really like about Moyes is that he's adapting tactics to each game or player availability. Those balls through to Beto aren't an accident, Moyes has coached and implemented it... Feels almost luxurious having different ideas for different game.
