That’s the thing with moyes.

He isn’t doing anything too innovative or ambitious.

He’s just simply giving them more freedom and confidence with the ball and is setting them up in ways to create chances.

I know people are sick of it but it deserves to be mentioned just how horrible dyche was when someone like moyes can come in and have us score seven goals in two home games.

Yeah, two very poor defences but at best we scrape 1-0 wins in these games under dyche and the whole experience is draining.

The more we go on, the more my opinion on the previous manager lessens. It just wasn’t football.

Still have my doubts on moyes long term. Let’s be honest, he’s staying for a while and that’s fine as it would be silly of us to bin him in the summer when he has that body of work at West Ham behind us, but can see him frustrating the fans with heightened expectations and a better squad of players.

At the moment he’s coming in off the back of the worst Everton team to watch over the last six months and possible a year when you see the second half of last season.

Eventually that will wear out and it will all be on moyes to show he can be the man to move us forward and kick on.

Fair play to you, you have been banging the drum about the players being better than they have been showing for months and i will be honest as i've posted earlier in this thread i couldn't see it, i really thought they were shite.
After the last 4 games and the huge improvement in the team what was on my mind last night was what the hell was Dyche doing to this team to make them play like they were for months on end, no threat going forward, just totally reliant on set pieces to try a nick a goal.
And what i was thinking last night was that Dyche must be so embarrassed to now see what's happened to us now moyes has taken over after what he said that he'd taken us as far as he could with this bunch of players.
As i've posted before i am grateful to him for keeping us up after Lampard and last season after the 2 points deductions
But jesus what happened to him to turn us into shambles we were before he left?

I think our recent good performances highlight how woeful the lack of attacking intent was under Dyche.

He still deserves a lot of credit for the strong defensive organization. I can’t think of a better situation to walk into that one where the defensive unit is already well-drilled and the team really needs to learn how to use the ball more effectively with a little more license to get forward.

This is no slight on Moyes, he’s done exactly what was needed and his strengths suited the job. Now his goal is to refresh the squad, both in age and overall quality, and push us to the edge of European contention. From there, we’ll see whether he’s the right person to take us forward.

Best we can hope is that Friedkin group don’t sell the progress I expect Moyes to make to someone who speaks better than they mind the day-to-day details of the club. The fact that we appear committed to the DoF model should limit that potential downside even if we get the next appointment wrong.

Or maybe Moyes just does the thing at the second time of asking. He’s not getting any younger, maybe we see a bolder version of him as he looks to add a big trophy or two to an already great career. Theoretically, he should never have to play a Phil Neville type in midfield in an important match ever again.

It feels weird that when he took over first time around he was basically Ashley Young's current age.

He seems different this time. Obviously a bedrock of experience since leaving, with plenty of mistakes and some successes.

This is a much better version of Moyes I feel, bearing in mind he was very good last time.. so let's see where he can take us. I'm fully on board.

Otherwise when we get tonked, or lose two or three on the bounce, or go properly cautious and pragmatic for periods, we won’t kneejerk our way back to how the forum has been for some time.

My take, uts fun to comemon this forum again.
Football is watchable again
So what's the fucking problem?
He did well despite Billy bullshits financial cock ups.
He is not going to win the champions league or even the Premier league.
But he has brought our pride back. After all the white that followed him, and none did as well.

This is kinda what Moyes said himself in one of the post match interviews, as in we're doing well but it's going to be a work in progress. And that competing at the top end for European places is going to mean adding some more quality to the squad.

Apart from Leicester, none of those teams were doing as badly as we were this season before Moyes took over whilst the difference in performance level and approach has been stark. We're literally only the 2nd team to win at Brighton this season and they were unbeaten in 6 going into that match.

Temper expectations sure, but don't play down what we've actually witnessed.

Yeah, maybe disarray was harsh, but Brighton have been mediocre this season, and they were plain awful yesterday, and Spurs did lose at home to Leicester last week, and Leicester are wank, as we saw yesterday.

But absolutely, the difference in performance level and approach has been huge, and long may it continue; glorious how Beto and Garner slotted in yesterday and performed out their skins, and O’Brien and Lindstrom have been transformative, I feel.

All down to both Moyes taking over, and Dyche not being here.
