You think it was unrealistic to expect us to bolster our ranks on January?
January transfer window

Re: January transfer window
We will be issuing a secured bond, which is against the assets of the club (mainly the stadium).
JP Morgan will be obtaining institutional interest, and will be underwriting it in case it doesn’t get sold - but it will. Probably looking at an 8-10% coupon and a decent length of maturity - out beyond 15 years.
I presume we will borrow in GBP, with 10 year yields at around 4.6%, it seems fair that a high yield borrower like Everton would borrow at around that mark.
Not sure how much debt is left but you can work out the interest payments based on the above.
For comparison, Tottenhams US Private placement was structured in 2019 as follows:
£50m at 15 years at 2.7%
£125m at 20 years at 2.8%
£50m at 25 years at 2.9%
£300m at 30 years at 2.8%
£112m Bank of America bank loan
Total of £637m. And they achieved investment grade rating.
A great deal for them and something for us to try and aspire to.

What were you going to bolster the ranks with ? It was blatantly obvious that we had no wiggle room with PSR, we did what we could whilst remaining within the limit, we might have been able to do another loan but why do that just for the sake of satisfying those people that said we were promised two or three signings which a few have said.

Not at all whatsoever what the manager has been constantly saying since he came in, but sound okay!

Where are these numbers from?AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 11:10 am Think those above will all leave the squad, we'll renew some of the below and replace others listed.
Young - Replace with Kyle Walker Peters (£free)
Keane - Replace with back up CB (£15m)
Lindestrom - Buy £16m
Alcaraz - Buy - £20m
Gana - end of contract - Renew
Calvert-Lewin - Still think we'll agree a renewal with him
Virginia - Renew
Doucoure - Renew
That's £51m and we'll still need a new LB a striker to replace DCL or at least rotate and give him competition, plus 1-2 midfielders and 1-2 wide players or wide 10s with pace.
I think it's a huge ask so don't envy Moyes and whoever our DOF is come the summer.
Re: January transfer window
The Lindstrom one was posted in his thread a day or two ago, it was euros which someone calculated in pounds to be £16.1m I believe.
Alcaraz fee was muted in a few reports before we signed him but Everton News (no idea if it's reliable) claim it's actually lower:
'After talks advanced while the midfielder flew to England to undergo his medical, Flamengo included a £16.5m obligation for Everton to buy Alcaraz. Their obligation, which is worth an initial £12.5m plus add-ons, becomes active if the midfielder starts a high number of games'.

Ok.
So..the manager wanted something unrealistic? Old unrealistic moyesy, always reaching for the stars.
You're talking rubbish, I'm not continuing this convo.

Re: January transfer window
Very disappointed we couldn't even get in a bargain basement striker, we are desperately short at the pointy end.
Obviously delighted we have brought an attacking midfielder into the fold, lets hope he can settle in quick.

Re: January transfer window
Think it was fine. If we hadn't have won the last 3 i would be fuming at the lack of business.
But not buying for the sake of it is good. Lets plod along until Summer. Hopefully Beto remains fit and Chermiti/Dom can get fit.

Re: January transfer window
From what I've heard when you factor in bonuses into contract the above number is allegedly way higher. Things like matchday squad, wins, goals, assists and even pass completion rate bonuses. Very common in a lot of contracts.
Ever wondered why you see so many sideways passes from some players? Most likely pass completion rate bonus!

I suppose it's the modern version of the Wimbledon players betting on first throw in in the first minute then kicking the ball out from the kick-off.liamgt wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 12:50 pm From what I've heard when you factor in bonuses into contract the above number is allegedly way higher. I think the fact we have to pay for Broja regardless and he's going to be back in about 5 league game's time probably was a major factor.NomadskiEFC wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 12:34 pm Very disappointed we couldn't even get in a bargain basement striker, we are desperately short at the pointy end.

Re: January transfer window
Yeah, I think the lack of a forward is due to the fact that Chermiti and Broja aren’t out much longer.
It’s risky for a few weeks but we’ll be back to having options relatively soon. It’s a risk we couldn’t have afforded to take without three straight wins so a bit fortunate for sure.
I’m encouraged by the late interest in Fellows from West Brom. Looks like a promising creative passer from the wing. We need to be in for as many of these young Championship stars as we can.
