RIP Bill Kenwright
Re: RIP Bill Kenwright
Bought some colour and integrity to the club at important times. Seemed a good human.
RIP Bill.

Re: RIP Bill Kenwright
I now have mixed feeling towards Bill having heard Simon Jordan explains his conversation with him when asked why don’t you stop moshiri doing what he’s doing and the reply from bill came back “how do tell a billionaire owner what to do”….
It makes me think a number of things.
1 what would moshiri have been like if bill had resigned?
2. Why didn’t he resign ? Fear for the club? “Ego” ?
3. How “hamstrung” was bill actually in dealings with moshiri
4. How much control did he as chairman actually have in overseeing the club?
Will we ever know?

Oliver Holt has written quite the hit piece today.
Dripping with sycophantic drivel. He was caught trawling Twitter for critical posts yesterday and called out for it. Seems he bottled using them for this but he’s still made a reasonable effort of misrepresenting the club legacy of Bill.

Re: RIP Bill Kenwright
I don’t think anyone questions or queries his devotion and love for the club. His qualities as a person. His entrepreneurship.
What comes into question is his leadership and steerage of the club. I may be wrong and stand corrected if I am, but didn’t he turn down the saudis before they looked at city ?
Was that the best for the club or the best for Bill? And how many more “approaches” were turned anway? And that’s what comes into question.

Re: RIP Bill Kenwright
I doubt they came to buy us?
They bought city because of their ground situation
They got the new ground built and ready to move in
Due to it being built for the commonwealth games.
They just pay the council to basically rent it I think?
Until the pay off the costs.

I thought they were “sniffing around” any available clubs at the time and there weren’t too many back then at that time and rumours were they had a nibble around Everton but I think your right re the stadium as it was the possibility of obtaining the stadium for city home ground that swung them into buying them rather than anyone else.

Hadn't realised this was today, Bill Kenwright's memorial service. I take his funeral was private and a few weeks ago.
