Amazing how careers pan out isn't it.

Remember in 2009 when Man City were after Lescott and Mark Hughes was giving it the big un about coming to a big club etc. Then when he was at Fulham he resigned saying he was young and ambitious and wanted to move on, only to realise no bigger club wanted him and he ended up at QPR followed by stints at Stoke, Southampton and most recently Bradford.

Fast forward to 2025 and Moyes has just managed his 700th Premier League game and Hughes has just been appointed manager at Carlisle Utd who are rock bottom of League Two and looking increasingly like having back to back relegations.

He did some decent work at various points in his career but he was genuinely delusional.

Even at Stoke, he’d complain post-match about every decision they didn’t get (big or small) and every slice of bad fortune while never acknowledging that they were sometimes lucky or had decisions go their way

You can’t really hide in management. Everyone gets what they deserve in time.

Think moyes was always a class above that glut of British managers and it’s no surprise to see him still managing at a high level whilst the rest have disappeared.

Done wonders, really. Playing with a couple of wingers who still haven't scored or assisted this season, yet we're still scoring goals for fun under him and managing to get way more out of this injury ridden squad then I think most would have expected.

And that's without Ndiaye for the last few matches who is by far and away our best player going forward.

It’s all small potatoes individually but it’s huge difference to Evertonians. It’s not overly dramatic to say day-to-day he has improved our quality of life.

All I wanted was to enjoy watching us again and he's delivered that in spades. I'm sure there will be bumps in the road, but it really does feel like a corner has been turned and perhaps early January 2025 was our rock bottom.

It's the way we're playing that's doing it for me, obviously the results have been great but watching people like Tarks break through the lines with the ball multiple times yesterday is unbelievably refreshing.

The safety first approach has been ditched and Moyes is demanding the players do more with the ball, take more risks and pass with purpose.

Not all of it comes off but a lot does and it makes the football really enjoyable to watch.

True it has been a thoroughly miserable few years, horrible mix of fear and depression, it bleeds into every day life in no small way.

Just a shame the powers that be left it 3/4 games too long to get him in….imagine where we’d be in the league now…..or am I being greedy…
