The Rebuild
Re: The Rebuild
People have absolutely got to stop thinking like this. That would mean we spend this summer and then have *nothing* to spend for the next 4 years. Again. All whilst trying to sell someone every year to balance the books. So we spend no money, lose players, get worse and people then cry 'lack of investment'.

100% - no spending spree, but rather a patient build.

Re: The Rebuild
I worry how many senior players we're losing at once, even if those senior players are a bit crap.
I think we should find a way to keep doucs, even if he's willing to stay for another year just because we have so many problems to solve and so many other people leaving already.
He should be a tool we use against certain teams or in certain scenarios, rather than someone we rely on to play every minute, we do need a few of those. Ultimately, he cares and gives it everything every game, and we want a core group to impart that on any new arrivals too.

Re: The Rebuild
Doubt it will be a spending spree.
But the difference this time is we can actually afford now and be in for the players we want rather than worrying about paying on Klarna or deferring payments to 2034.

I think we'll spend quite a large amount 150m over 5 years is 30m a year. Would we not back ourselves to cover that with the new stadium

Re: The Rebuild
Maybe, but it’s still a bit of an unknown quantity so I imagine we should be very conservative to avoid further PSR issues.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 6:08 pm I think we'll spend quite a large amount 150m over 5 years is 30m a year. Re: The Rebuild
But realistically tho, he probably comes straight back into the starting eleven immediately when he's back in training, will probably play every game he is fit for between now and the end of the season, and is absolutely crucial to how we play...but the day the season ends he's completely done?Shogun wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 3:44 pm Your mate Charly will be replacing him soon![]()
For real though, he's just on too much money for the player that he is. At his age as well, we'd be daft to give him another contract considering it's probably unlikely he'd agree to a 1 year deal.
He's also only actually scored 2 goals this season
It's not like he's playing here and there, or a Micheal Keane who is literally dead wood break glass in case of emergencies, he's a key part of the side. If anyone is worth their wage Doucoure is.
Wouldn't be surprised or upset in anyway if they triggered another year.
Facing a year with Garner and Tim as our only contracted CMs is terrifying.
Garner
Tim
Doucs
Gana
Plus a.n other to come in at 6 and 8?
I can live with that.
Re: The Rebuild
With our form since Moyes come in, and with a few additions in the summer, anything short of Europe next season will be a failure.
Re: The Rebuild
Yep totally agree can't have too many new players coming in in the same positionbrap2 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2025 6:36 pm But realistically tho, he probably comes straight back into the starting eleven immediately when he's back in training, will probably play every game he is fit for between now and the end of the season, and is absolutely crucial to how we play...but the day the season ends he's completely done?

Re: The Rebuild
Europe within two seasons is definitely achievable.
Probably won’t happen but that has to be the aim.
Need to get some standards and ambition back in the club.
