The Rebuild
Re: The Rebuild
Be nice just to be in the conversation for top 6 in the next few years but good football and comfortable top half is achievable quickly in my opinion, with the right recruitment

Re: The Rebuild
Aiming for top 4/5 (Europe) in season 27-28 shows (serious)ambition and should be realistic from new owners investment
If not, it's mid-table down the Moore, no more than that
We must demand more than middle of the road

Need some realism as to the actual situation rather than just what we’d likeblueforyou wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 10:43 am Aiming for top 4/5 (Europe) in season 27-28 shows (serious)ambition and should be realistic from new owners investment

We’re still tied to PSR rules, so we aren’t massively outspending competing teams, we’re needing a huge rebuild, not every signing is going to work out
We’ve got a new stadium that’ll help with finances but it won’t particularly move the bar, how are Middlesbrough and Sunderland doing?
Spurs moved into theirs off the back of about 10 European seasons beforehand, they’ve not exactly improved their league position at all

I don’t think it is.Cereal Killer wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 9:10 am We’ve barely survived for the last few seasons and now top 5 within three seasons?
I like a lofty aim but that’s delusional
Even if we were the only team to improve our squad and everyone else sat on their hands doing nothing we wouldn’t get top 5
Will it happen? Probably not.
Is it achievable? Yes
Why can Aston Villa go from the championship to top four in three seasons but that’s delusional for us?
These owners aren’t coming in to sit in mid-table. They want to be at the top table.
If 8th is our best finish in the next three seasons then that’s fine, but over time we need to do something actually important.
Sick of people telling us we can’t do this and that whilst teams like Bournemouth, Brighton, Villa and now forest disrupt the top.
Re: The Rebuild
Nothing crazy about what Ram is saying, we need to have that vision and strategy as a club. We might fall short but it's not impossible to achieve that, so we have to aim for it over an appropriate timeframe.
Re: The Rebuild
Yeah can't talk about it being impossible when Forest are up there FFSTheRam wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 11:19 am I don’t think it is.

Re: The Rebuild
I think they will definitely be aiming for European football within 2/3 years, and they absolutely should be. We're not living in the era where the same Top 4 is locked in every year, and the rest are fighting for scraps. There's the opportunity for upward (and downward) mobility, as Forest have shown.
The quality of recruitment is more important than ever, and that's what has distinguished sides like Forest, Bournemouth, Brighton etc.
So that being said, this summer is absolutely humungously important for how we're going to fare in the next 5 years. It's a huge opportunity yes, but also we need to get a lot of stuff right, so there's a lot of pressure on Moyes and the recruitment team to be on the same page.
One of the huge benefits of the results we've achieved under Moyes is that we've practically guaranteed safety already, so the club can afford to really focus on recruitment for the summer now. Given that we need to recruit say 8-10 players, that could be hugely helpful.
To acclimatise so many players at once is going to be hugely difficult managerially, so the earlier we get them in the better. I don't want to see the club scrambling around in August, needing another 5 players.

Re: The Rebuild
We have to look to compete with the usual suspects:
Liverpool; Arsenal; City
Utd; Newcastle; Chelsea; Villa; Spurs
Fancy our chances, along with a couple of "outsiders" - Leeds, West Ham...?

Re: The Rebuild
Hopefully we can also figure out if any of the youth players are capable of being squad players next year - wouldn’t have that luxury if we were fighting for our livesBluedylan[emoji637] wrote:

Re: The Rebuild
That the same spurs and United that have only just got their noses in front of us and we have reasonable hopes of finishing above this season yeah?blueforyou wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 12:36 pm We have to look to compete with the usual suspects:

Re: The Rebuild
What i am saying is that with new sponsorship and new stadium revenue, this doesnt necessarily mean we start every season in the red.superpull wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 8:06 am So we buy 7 players this summer worth £50m each.
Dismissing the fact we actually pay the majority of that upfront, our books allow us to amortise it over the contract. So this year "only" shows 7 x £10m on the books.
So we are £70m in the red with PSR this year.
And we start next year on minus £70m again before any player trading.
And every year after that until the 5th year.
We become utterly reliant on selling to buy in the first year of moving into the new stadium
The stadium changes our financial outlook. You are failing to recognise that. These deals become possible because of what will now becoming into the club.
When i say we could be able to spend 75 million in PSR terms that could easily be covered by the stadium sponsorships.
Its literally what City do.
Im not saying turf our money into a hole. There is no reason to be losing your head over this.
Re: The Rebuild
Richard Kone could be one to look at 22 in the summer he has had a funny story on how he got to playing in England but fuck that he can score for sure

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/richard ... er/1218761 up to 6 clubs looking at him he would be cheap and could be a Moyes master class signing
sub on with 15 mins to go for a season

Re: The Rebuild
I doubt Forest will sustain it either for the rest of the season or beyond though. Highly likely it's a flash in the pan and they'll be mid table again next season, especially if they keep a top 7 place and have Europe to contend with.
It'd be great to have a Forest type season but I'd much rather we built slowly and sustainably instead of peaks and troughs as I imagine they'll have.
