Lots of spurious stuff about from unreliable sources, but I can only imagine the serious links will start to emerge once the new DOF has been appointed.

Can't imagine the Friedkins are going to randomly let Moyes deal with some future transfers and then appoint someone to properly oversee transfers after that.

Is about timing and expediency too though, not that there is currently an open window, but if they don't get a DOF until after Thelwell leaves...we've seen how long these processes take, and how many windows we miss out on.

Can't see Moyes making huge transfers mistakes, and the Friedkins obviously trust him based upon how he got the job.

Moyes must have been in the wings for a while as he was over-playing the line about how everyone was surprised the Dyche had been sacked...he knew what was going on.

Moyes is capable of huge transfer mistakes like. He's got a history of bagging a bargain he's more than capable of backing the wrong horse

Not sure he made many that cost us a lot of money. I could probably list 10 maybe even 20 since moyes that were worse than anything he did (though I'm probably forgetting something awful)

There were a few that didn't work out great (Bilyaletdinov, Beattie, Van Der Meyde, Kroldrup, Simon Davies), but his transfer record overall was spectacularly good by any metric. You can't possibly get them all right, which is why you need DOFs and recruitment teams to improve the science behind decision making and reduce risks.

Per Kroldrup was probably his biggest fuck up first time around. However, we managed to offload him pretty sharpish and I think we lost about £2m on the deal. Not great, but also not a total disaster all things considered.

Van der Meyde was a fucking basket case, but you can see why we took that punt, as there was a very talented player in there.

James Beattie was OK. He wasn't brilliant, but he definitely wasn't a disaster.

Bilyaletdinov was one that was a real shame. So much wanted it to work for him here because he could have been amazing. It just didn't really happen for him here.

Simon Davies, another we can probably file under OK, but not great.

He got a.lot more right than he got wrong overall though...

His deals at us previously didn’t lose much money as he barely had any money to spend

Let’s go a bit more recent than over a decade ago

Phillips - £7m loan fee - shocking
Kudus - £43m - ok
Mavropanos - £20m - awful
Ward-Prowse - £34m - awful
Alvarez - £38m - ok
Ings - £12m - meh
Paqueta - £42m - good
Emerson - £15m - meh
Cornet - £20m - awful
Scammaca - £38m - awful
Aguerd - £35m - ok
Vlasic - £30m - awful

That’s a lot of money pissed away on shit to get a couple of decent players at massive fees

Yeah, my lingering impression is that the one time we had "a warchest" and tried to build a squad for the champions league he didn't do great.

So I'd always assumed he was decent on a budget but might not know what to do buying higher up the food chain.

I'm not going to put too much weight into United and West Ham, because he had a DoF at both of them, so purchases can't fully be attributed to him - they are decisions by committee

I will be devoed if they hand Moyes the keys and give one of his mates the job to sign the checks.

I very much doubt they will give Moyes full autonomy on transfers.

Moyes will heavily be involved like but doubt this will be the case.

If we was to bring Richarlinson back, how much would you pay for him?

I'd only have him on loan at this point. We broke him.

Yeah, was thinking only a loan myself, or a small fee.

Would be sad to watch and a regressive move.
